Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: CTHRP and WGHRP are superior in sensitivity to FHRP for studies of neuronal connectivity and HRP conjugates of ligands are internalized, transported and/or degraded by mammalian neurons in a manner which differs from that of F HRP, a macromolecule for which neuronal plasma membrane 'receptors' are lacking.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: The results in 100 rats demonstrated the superior sensitivity of ligand-HRP conjugates over FHRP as retrogradely transported markers and that the specificity of the ligand-"receptor" interaction of WG and CT does not depend on the tissue destruction produced by the injection procedure.

Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: The cholera toxin HRP conjugate was a sensitive probe for the demonstration of the dendritic arborization of retrogradely labeled neurons and greatly expanded knowledge of the course and terminations of the commissural dendrites of the protoplasmic commissure of Van Gehuchten.

TL;DR: PC12 cells contain dissociated or incompletely assembled immunoreactive neurofilament triplet proteins and that these proteins can be induced by NGF, and are therefore an attractive model system not only for studies of neuronal differentiation but also for Studies of neurofilaments metabolism and disorders thereof.

TL;DR: Five classes of intermediate filaments are recognized on the basis of their distinct biochemical properties, and each has a distinct role in cytoskeletal proteins in mammalian cells.
Abstract: INTERMEDIATE filaments are ubiquitous cytoskeletal proteins in mammalian cells. Five classes of intermediate filaments are recognized on the basis of their distinct biochemical properties, and each...

TL;DR: It is reported that papillary features may be a component of pineocytic neoplasms and that they may have prognostic significance and should be distinguished from other benign and malignant papillary neoplasm which also occur in the pineal region.
Abstract: A pineal gland tumor in a 57-year-old man proved to be lethal within six months despite radiotherapy. The tumor was demonstrated to be a pineocytoma at autopsy but it was unusual is that papillary structures constituted a prominent component of it. We report that papillary features may be a component of pineocytic neoplasms and that they may have prognostic significance. Papillary pineal parenchymal neoplasms should be distinguished from other benign and malignant papillary neoplasms which also occur in the pineal region.
