Courtney,Cairn G. Seale,Martha J. Morrell +35 more
TL;DR: To demonstrate the safety and effectiveness of responsive stimulation at the seizure focus as an adjunctive therapy to reduce the frequency of seizures in adults with medically intractable partial onset seizures arising from one or two seizure foci.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term treatment with responsive brain stimulation in adults with refractory partial seizures
Gregory K. Bergey,Martha J. Morrell,Eli M. Mizrahi,Alica M. Goldman,David King-Stephens,Dileep Nair,Shraddha Srinivasan,Barbara C. Jobst,Robert E. Gross,Donald C. Shields,Gregory L. TL;DR: This study provides Class IV evidence that for adults with medically refractory partial onset seizures, responsive direct cortical stimulation reduces seizures and improves quality of life over a mean follow-up of 5.4 years.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mapping anterior temporal lobe language areas with fMRI: a multicenter normative study.
Jeffrey R. Binder,William L. Gross,Jane B. Allendorfer,Leonardo Bonilha,Jessica S. Chapin,Jonathan C. Edwards,Thomas J. Grabowski,John T. Langfitt,David W. Loring,Mark J. Lowe,Katherine A. Koenig,Paul S. Morgan,Jeffrey G. Ojemann,Chris Rorden,Jerzy P. Szaflarski,Madalina E. Tivarus,Kurt E. Weaver +16 more
TL;DR: The Story-Math protocol provides a reliable method for activation of surgical regions of interest in the ATL and supports previous claims that conceptual processing involves both temporal lobes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Brain-responsive neurostimulation in patients with medically intractable mesial temporal lobe epilepsy

Vossler,Robert E. Wharen,Gregory A. Worrell,Daniel Yoshor,Richard S. Zimmerman,Kathy Cicora,Felice T. Sun,Martha J. Morrell +48 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the seizure-reduction response and safety of brain-responsive stimulation in adults with medically intractable partial-onset seizures of mesial temporal lobe origin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Medial temporal lobe epilepsy is associated with neuronal fibre loss and paradoxical increase in structural connectivity of limbic structures
Leonardo Bonilha,Travis Nesland,Gabriel U. Martz,Jane E. Joseph,Maria Vittoria Spampinato,Jonathan C. Edwards,Ali Tabesh +6 more
TL;DR: The results corroborate the concept of MTLE as a network disease, and may contribute to the understanding of network excitability dynamics in epilepsy and MTLE.
