TL;DR: In this paper, the properties and microstructure of alkali-activated cement pastes and mortars produced using red clay brick waste were investigated, and it was shown that the type and concentration of acid activator can be optimised to produce mortar samples with compressive strengths up to 50MPa after curing for 7 days at 65°C.

TL;DR: In this paper, the sugar cane bagasse ashes (SCBA) have been chemically, physically and mineralogically characterized, in order to evaluate the possibility of their use as a cement-replacing material in the concrete industry.
Abstract: Sugar cane bagasse is an industrial waste which is used worldwide as fuel in the same sugar-cane industry. The combustion yields ashes containing high amounts of unburned matter, silicon and aluminium oxides as main components. These sugar-cane bagasse ashes (SCBA) have been chemically, physically and mineralogically characterized, in order to evaluate the possibility of their use as a cement-replacing material in the concrete industry. Determination of parameters such as carbon content (by thermal analysis methods), presence of crystalline material (by X-ray diffractometry), granulometric distribution (by laser diffraction in water suspensions), morphology of particles (by scanning electron microscopy) and reactivity towards lime (pozzolanic activity by thermogravimetric monitoring in lime/SCBA and cement/SCBA pastes) have been carried out.

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of the use of an alternative activator based on nanosilica/MOH (M = K + or Na + ) blended solutions on the performance of alkali-activated fly ash binders was assessed.
Abstract: This paper assesses the effect of the use of an alternative activator based on nanosilica/MOH (M = K + or Na + ) blended solutions on the performance of alkali-activated fly ash binders. Binders produced with commercial silicate activators display a greater degree of reaction, associated with increased contents of geopolymer gel; however, mortars produced with the alternative nanosilica-based activators exhibited lower water demand and reduced permeability, independent of the alkali cation used. Na-based activators promote higher compressive strength compared with K-based activators, along with a refined pore structure, although K-activated samples exhibit reduced water demand. Zeolite type products are the major crystalline phases formed within these binders. A wider range of zeolites is formed when using commercial silicate solutions compared with the alternative activators. These results suggest that there are variations in the availability of Si in the system, and consequently in the alkalinity, depending on the silicate source in the activator, which is important in determining the nanostructure of the geopolymer gel.

Abstract: Thank you for downloading properties of concrete. As you may know, people have look hundreds times for their chosen readings like this properties of concrete, but end up in malicious downloads. Rather than reading a good book with a cup of coffee in the afternoon, instead they juggled with some malicious virus inside their computer. properties of concrete is available in our digital library an online access to it is set as public so you can download it instantly. Our digital library hosts in multiple locations, allowing you to get the most less latency time to download any of our books like this one. Merely said, the properties of concrete is universally compatible with any devices to read.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors review past and future trends in sludge handling, focusing mainly at thermal processes (e.g. pyrolysis, wet oxidation, gasification) and the utilization of sewage sludge in cement manufacture as a co-fuel.
Abstract: The European Union has made progress in dealing with municipal wastewater in individual countries and as a corporate entity. However, it intends to make still further and substantial progress over the next 15 years. Currently, the most widely available options in the EU are the agriculture utilization, the waste disposal sites, the land reclamation and restoration, the incineration and other novel uses. The selection of an option on a local basis reflects local or national, cultural, historical, geographical, legal, political and economic circumstances. The degree of flexibility varies from country to country. In any case sludge treatment and disposal should always be considered as an integral part of treatment of wastewater. There is a wide range of other uses for sludge, which exploit its energy or chemical content, namely the thermal processes. The present paper sought to review past and future trends in sludge handling, focusing mainly at thermal processes (e.g. pyrolysis, wet oxidation, gasification) and the utilization of sewage sludge in cement manufacture as a co-fuel.
