Journal ArticleDOI

A review of recent advances on process technologies for upgrading of heavy oils and residua

TL;DR: In this paper, different technologies for residua processing: thermal, catalytic fixed and ebullated types of hydroconversion are reviewed and discussed, and a possibility of combining the advantages of these technologies together with suitable catalyst with enhanced and controlled cracking activity is also analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pyrolysis kinetics of atmospheric residue and its SARA fractions

TL;DR: In this paper, a thermal analysis of atmospheric residue from heavy crude oil and its SARA fractions was carried out and the tendency of each fraction toward coke formation was determined, i.e., asphaltenes, resins and aromatics.
Journal ArticleDOI

On the effect of reaction conditions on liquid phase sulfiding of a NiMo HDS catalyst

TL;DR: In this paper, four sulfiding feeds were employed in the present work: SRGO, SRGO + 1.7% sulfur DMDS, HDS-SRGO+ 1.1% sulfur, and SRGO+1.5% DMDS.
Journal ArticleDOI

A batch reactor study of the effect of deasphalting on hydrotreating of heavy oil

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of deasphalting of heavy oil with different degrees of asphaltenes precipitation on catalytic hydrotreating was reported, and the results were characterized by sulfur, metals and carbon contents as well as textural properties and X-ray diffraction.
