I Spy Transits and Pulsations: Empirical Variability in White Dwarfs Using Gaia and the Zwicky Transient Facility
Joseph A. Guidry,Zachary P. Vanderbosch,J. J. Hermes,Brad N. Barlow,Isaac D. Lopez,Isaac D. Lopez,Thomas M. Boudreaux,Kyle A. Corcoran,Keaton J. Bell,Michael H. Montgomery,Tyler M. Heintz,Barbara G. Castanheira,Joshua S. Reding,B. H. Dunlap,Donald E Winget,K. I. Winget,J. W. Kuehne +16 more
TL;DR: In this article, the anomalous excess scatter in repeated measurements from public catalogs of Gaia DR2 and Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) DR3 photometry is used to detect variable astrophysical objects and transient phenomena using anomalous extra scatter.
Journal ArticleDOI
Year 1 of the ZTF high-cadence Galactic plane survey: strategy, goals, and early results on new single-mode hot subdwarf B-star pulsatos
Thomas Kupfer,Thomas Kupfer,Thomas A. Prince,Jan van Roestel,Eric C. Bellm,Lars Bildsten,Lars Bildsten,Michael W. Coughlin,Andrew J. Drake,Matthew J. Graham,Courtney Klein,Shrinivas R. Kulkarni,Frank J. Masci,Richard Walters,Igor Andreoni,Rahul Biswas,Corey W Bradshaw,Dmitry A. Duev,Richard Dekany,Joseph A. Guidry,J. J. Hermes,Russ R. Laher,Reed Riddle +22 more
TL;DR: The first results of the high-cadence Galactic plane survey using the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) were presented in this paper, which revealed the Galactic population of short-period variable stars, including short period binaries and stellar pulsators with periods less than a few hours.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recurring Planetary Debris Transits and Circumstellar Gas around White Dwarf ZTF J0328–1219
Zachary P. Vanderbosch,Saul Rappaport,Joseph A. Guidry,B. L. Gary,Simon Blouin,Thomas G. Kaye,Alycia J. Weinberger,Carl Melis,Beth Klein,Barry Zuckerman,Andrew Vanderburg,J. J. Hermes,R. J. Hegedus,Matthew R. Burleigh,Ramotholo Sefako,Hannah L. Worters,Tyler M. Heintz +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present follow-up photometry and spectroscopy of ZTF J0328$-$1219 strengthening its status as a white dwarf exhibiting transiting planetary debris.
