Simultaneous detection and strain differentiation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis for diagnosis and epidemiology.

TL;DR: A novel method based on strain-dependent hybridization patterns of in vitro-amplified DNA with multiple spacer oligonucleotides was found to differentiate M. bovis from M. tuberculosis, a distinction which is often difficult to make by traditional methods.

Detection and differentiation of mycobacterium tuberculosis complex bacteria by direct variant repeat oligotyping

TL;DR: In this paper, a method of in vitro amplification of nucleic acid using amplification primers, wherein a pair of primers is used comprising oligonucleotide sequences sufficiently complementary to a part of the direct repeat sequence of a microorganism belonging to the M. tuberculosis complex of microorganisms for hybridization to a direct repeat to occur and subsequently elongation of the hybridized primer to take place, was presented.
