TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyze the environmental impact of the municipal slaughterhouse, in the city of Puyo, Ecuadorian Amazonia, using a network diagram and the Leopold matrix.
EnglishThe slaughterhouse are the most polluting meat industry facilities. The objective of this document is to analyze the environmental impact of the municipal slaughterhouse, in the city of Puyo, Ecuadorian Amazonia. The identification and evaluation of impacts was carried out with a network diagram and the Leopold matrix. Eleven significant assessment activities were obtained which interact with seven components of the physical, biotic and socio-economic and cultural factors, with a total of 32 interactions with a significant degree of impact for environmental effects. The main environmental aspects of the municipal road of the city of Puyo are the discharge of wastewater and solid waste, generated by manure and the slaughter of animals where a large amount of bones, fat and skin is generated, the expense is also considered of energy that is significant throughout the process and the presence of vectors. The most important impact identified was the generation of wastewater, associated with high organic loads, so it is important to take corrective measures that in the environmental management plan that are capable of mitigating, preventing and monitoring the negative impacts they are generated

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a set of opciones for mas limpia (PML) in the context of cacao in Ecuador, with the aim of minimising the contaminación generated by the process of elaborating pasta de cacao.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyze the environmental performance and potentialities of applying cleaner production mechanisms (CP) in the Association of producers of fine aroma cocoa "Tsatsayaku" in Ecuador, and show that mucilage and cocoa husk generation are the main environmental problems of the process.
Abstract: Cocoa is one of the most important crops in Ecuador, destined for export to be used in making chocolate in other countries. The objective of this work was to analyze the environmental performance and the potentialities of applying cleaner production mechanisms (CP) in the Association of producers of fine aroma cocoa \"Tsatsayaku\". The CP tools used were the initial environmental review, ecomaps, and process analysis. The results show that mucilage and cocoa husk generation are the main environmental problems of the process. Two improvement options were proposed and evaluated to control and reduce process contamination. The analysis shows a B / C ratio of 1.38 and the Net Present Value is $ 36,001.37 with an Internal Rate of Return of 249.29%. Finally, the application of practices and technologies framed in CP systems can optimize the use of raw materials and reduce the solid and liquid contaminants generated.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the environmental impact generated by the cultivation of pitahaya, and proposed management strategies that mitigate the effects on the environment, including loss of biodiversity, degradation of soils, and clearing of forest ecosystems.
Abstract: Pitahaya fruit (Selenicereus megalanthus) is an exotic subtropical fruit with yellow skin, sweet and sour pulp, which contains levels of essential fatty acids such as oleic and linoleic acids. Its cultivation, in recent years, has become one of the main economic activities of the Morona-Santiago province. The objective of this work was to determine the environmental impact generated by the cultivation of pitahaya, and to propose management strategies that mitigate the effects on the environment. The characterization of the physical, biotic, socioeconomic and cultural environment of plantations of the Palora Canton was carried out, according to the criteria of the national environmental regulations. The methodology used were checklists, and Leopold matrix that are based on the analysis of the interactions between the stages of the crop and the environmental factors impacted. The main results in the evaluated farm show negative impacts such as the loss of biodiversity, degradation of soils, of the physical environment, mainly associated with the use of agrochemicals, the clearing of forest ecosystems, as well as the opening of access roads. The management plan shows strategies aimed at mitigating and compensating for the most severe impacts and complying with current environmental laws.
