The complex and interdependent nature of smart cities raises significant political, technical, and socioeconomic challenges for designers, integrators and organisations involved in administrating these new entities. An increasing number of studies focus on the security, privacy and risks within smart cities, highlighting the threats relating to information security and challenges for smart city infrastructure in the management and processing of personal data. This study analyses many of these challenges, offers a valuable synthesis of the relevant key literature, and develops a smart city interaction framework. The study is organised around a number of key themes within smart cities research: privacy and security of mobile devices and services; smart city infrastructure, power systems, healthcare, frameworks, algorithms and protocols to improve security and privacy, operational threats for smart cities, use and adoption of smart services by citizens, use of blockchain and use of social media. This comprehensive review provides a useful perspective on many of the key issues and offers key direction for future studies. The findings of this study can provide an informative research framework and reference point for academics and practitioners.

Security, Privacy and Risks Within Smart Cities: Literature Review and Development of a Smart City Interaction Framework.

In recent years, there has been significant focus on smart cities, on how they operate and develop, and on their technical and social challenges. The importance of infrastructure as a major pillar of support in cities, in addition to the rapid developments in smart city research, necessitate an up-to-date review of smart cities’ infrastructure issues and challenges. Traditionally, a majority of studies have focused on traffic control and management, transport network design, smart grid initiatives, IoT (Internet of Things) integration, big data, land use development, and how urbanization processes impact land use in the long run. The work presented herein proposes a novel review framework that analyzes how smart city infrastructure is related to the urbanization process while presenting developments in IoT sensor networks, big data analysis of the generated information, and green construction. A classification framework was proposed to give insights on new initiatives regarding smart city infrastructure through answering the following questions: (i) What are the various dimensions on which smart city infrastructure research focuses? (ii) What are the themes and classes associated with these dimensions? (iii) What are the main shortcomings in current approaches, and what would be a good research agenda for the future? A bibliometric analysis was conducted, presenting cluster maps that can be used to understand different research trends and refine further searches. A bibliographic analysis was then followed, presenting a review of the most relevant studies over the last five years. The method proposed serves to stress where future research into understanding smart systems, their implementation and functionality would be best directed. This research concluded that future research on the topic should conceptualize smart cities as an emergent socio-techno phenomenon.

Multiple Dimensions of Smart Cities’ Infrastructure: A Review

Although they offer major advantages, smart cities present unprecedented risks and challenges. There are abundant discrete studies on risks related to smart cities; however, such risks have not been thoroughly understood to date. This paper is a systematic review that aims to identify the origin, trends, and categories of risks from previous studies on smart cities. This review includes 85 related articles published between 2000 and 2019. Through a thematic analysis, smart city risks were categorized into three main themes: organizational, social, and technological. The risks within the intersections of these themes were also grouped into (1) digital transformation, (2) socio-technical, and (3) corporate social responsibility. The results revealed that risk is a comparatively new topic in smart-city research and that little focus has been given to social risks. The findings indicated that studies from countries with a long history of smart cities tend to place greater emphasis on social risks. This study highlights the significance of smart city risks for researchers and practitioners, providing a solid direction for future smart-city research.

The First Two Decades of Smart City Research from a Risk Perspective

This study aims at providing a literature review of big data, the Internet of Things, and Smart cities research using SCOPUS, which is considered as the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature. The research identified 143 relevant papers. The analyses of distribution of papers by year of publication, subject area, country, type, top 10 authors, and source are presented and discussed. A research agenda for future research is provided.

Based on the traditional city, smart city is a new city that is constructed by Internet of things, mobile Internet, cloud computing, big data and other information technologies. Smart city can change interaction way of people, improve the real-time processing capability of information and response speed; promote comprehensive and sustainable development of various social works of smart city. But because Internet of things connected the real world and cyber space, in the smart city operation, not only include the traditional security problems, for example, the related equipment and building destruction, also include through software and instruction to damage network information, city construction and so on, which will bring a big challenge to smart city operation. To solve the security problem of smart city should put forward a system security mode from the view of system engineering. Through analyzing smart city architecture and security risk, put forward smart city security platform, studied the physical equipment protection, information security technologies, effective management, laws, personal information security literacy of smart city.

Research on Security Construction of Smart City

The 2023 2nd International Conference on Economic Administration and Information Systems (EAIS 2023) was held in Chongqing, China during May 27-28, 2023. The main purpose of this conference is to provide an international platform for displaying and publishing the latest scientific research results related to the topics of economic administration, business strategies, e-commerce, innovation management, and information systems. 
EAIS 2023 provided delegates with a good opportunity to exchange new ideas, establish research and/or business contacts, and establish potential partnerships for global partnerships. We sincerely hope that this conference will help to increase knowledge in relevant scientific and academic fields. 
We hope that our later discussion may result transfer of experiences and research findings from participants to others, from one institution to another, from social researcher to engineering researcher and vice versa. Also, we hope this event can build a new and strong research network.
