Susanna Atwell,Yu S. Huang,Bjarni J. Vilhjálmsson,Glenda Willems,Matthew W. Horton,Yan Li,Dazhe Meng,Alexander Platt,Aaron M. Tarone,Tina T. Hu,Rong Jiang,N. Wayan Muliyati,Xu Zhang,Muhammad Ali Amer,Ivan Baxter,Benjamin Brachi,Joanne Chory,Joanne Chory,Caroline Dean,Marilyne Debieu,Juliette de Meaux,Joseph R. Ecker,Nathalie Faure,Joel M. Borevitz,Joy Bergelson,Magnus Nordborg +37 more
TL;DR: This study demonstrates the feasibility of GWA studies in A. thaliana and suggests that the approach will be appropriate for many other organisms, particularly when inbred lines are available.
Journal ArticleDOI
Activation Tagging Identifies a Conserved MYB Regulator of Phenylpropanoid Biosynthesis
TL;DR: A novel approach for enhancing the accumulation of natural products based on activation tagging by Agrobacterium-mediated transformation with a T-DNA that carries cauliflower mosaic virus 35S enhancer sequences at its right border is reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Activation tagging in Arabidopsis.
Detlef Weigel,Ji Hoon Ahn,Miguel A. Blázquez,Justin O. Borevitz,Sioux K. Christensen,Christian Fankhauser,Cristina Ferrándiz,Igor Kardailsky,Igor Kardailsky,Elizabeth J. Malancharuvil,Michael M. Neff,Michael M. Neff,Jasmine Thuy Nguyen,Shusei Sato,Zhi-Yong Wang,Yiji Xia,Richard A. Dixon,Maria J. Harrison,Christopher J. Lamb,Christopher J. Lamb,Martin F. Yanofsky,Joanne Chory,Joanne Chory +22 more
TL;DR: Activation tagging using T-DNA vectors that contain multimerized transcriptional enhancers from the cauliflower mosaic virus (CaMV) 35S gene has been applied to Arabidopsis plants, and it is shown that overexpressed genes are almost always found immediately adjacent to the inserted CaMV 35S enhancers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome-wide patterns of genetic variation in worldwide Arabidopsis thaliana accessions from the RegMap panel
Matthew W. Horton,Angela M. Hancock,Yu S. Huang,Christopher Toomajian,Susanna Atwell,Adam Auton,N. Wayan Muliyati,Alexander Platt,F. Gianluca Sperone,Bjarni J. Vilhjálmsson,Magnus Nordborg,Magnus Nordborg,Justin O. Borevitz,Joy Bergelson +13 more
TL;DR: The pattern of historical recombination in A. thaliana is characterized and an enrichment of hotspots in its intergenic regions and repetitive DNA is observed, which is consistent with the pattern that is observed for humans but which is strikingly different from that observed in other plant species.
Journal ArticleDOI
The extent of linkage disequilibrium in Arabidopsis thaliana
Magnus Nordborg,Justin O. Borevitz,Joy Bergelson,Charles C. Berry,Joanne Chory,Joanne Chory,Jenny Hagenblad,Martin Kreitman,Julin N. Maloof,Tina Noyes,Peter J. Oefner,Eli A. Stahl,Detlef Weigel,Detlef Weigel +13 more
TL;DR: It is shown that in global samples, LD decays within approximately 1 cM, or 250 kb, and that LD in local populations may be much stronger than that of global populations, presumably as a result of founder events.
