Nursery diseases of eucalyptus in Kerala

Abstract: Survey of Eucalyptus (E, grandis and E. tereticornis) nurseries in Kerala State indicates that the most prevalent diseases are damping-off, web blight and seedling blight in seedbeds and stem canker, leaf and shoot blights and Phaeoseptoria leaf spot in container plants. Cylindrocladium spp., Rbizoctonia solani and Pythium spp. arc the main serious pathogens. Pythium myriotylum, P. deliense, R. scilani, Cylindrocladium camellias, C. clavatum and Sclerotium rolfsii are recorded for the first time on Eucalyptus.

A new stem canker disease of Eucalyptus caused by Botryodiplodia theobromae in India

Abstract: A new stem canker disease of Eucalyptus caused by Botryodiplodia theobromae is reported from India. The disease caused up to 20% mortality. Survey and pathogenicity trials suggest that E. tereticornis is more susceptible than E. grandis to stem canker.

Outbreak of pink disease caused by Corticium salmonicolor in Eucalyptus grandis in Kerala, India∗

Abstract: An outbreak of pink disease caused by Corticium salmonicolor Berk. & Br. in Eucalyptus grandis plantations in Kerala State is reported. The sporadic infection recorded during 1979 spread to an epidemic proportion within four years, affecting more than 50% of trees in the two plantations surveyed. Probable factors responsible for this outbreak of pink disease are discussed.

Rhizoctonia web blight of Albizia falcataria in India

Abstract: Web blight of Albizia falcataria seedlings caused by Rhizoctonia solani state of Thanatephorus cucumeris is reported for the first time from Kerala, India. The disease, observed during the monsoon (June August), causes high mortality of young seedlings in nurseries.
