Journal ArticleDOI

Energy transfer by gravity wave dissipation

TL;DR: In this paper, the subject of the dissipation of internal gravity waves in the thermosphere and how this is related to propagation is discussed, and the ranges of waves for different source heights in these atmospheres are calculated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electromagnetic field dissipation and corpuscular bombardment and their implications in atmospheric modelling

TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that the dissipation of energy of electric fields and currents in the polar auroral atmosphere is a major source of energy for the thermosphere ranging locally up to 100 ergs cm−2 sec−1 and perhaps more during the most intense disturbance.
