Journal ArticleDOI

Classification of crack-tip isochromatics in orthotropic composites

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of material orthotropy, change of material and a / w ratio in influencing the geometry of the fringe loops is studied in detail for mode I type of loading.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of Negative Biaxial Loadings and Notch on Failure Assessment Diagrams

TL;DR: In this paper, a detailed study on FAD was conducted using FEA computed J-integral methods to investigate the effect of biaxial loading using different FAD approaches for geometries with notches.
Book ChapterDOI

Evaluation of Fracture Parameters of Cracks in Compressor Blade Root Using Digital Photoelasticity

TL;DR: In this paper, the failure of aero-engine compressor blade model of dovetail joint using the technique of photoelasticity was investigated. But the authors focused on the failure failure of blades which is one of the critical parts of the compressor and turbine and evaluated the stress intensity factors for mixed mode loading.
Journal ArticleDOI

Towards a device independent digital image processing software for photoelastic analysis

TL;DR: A simple PC based device independent software for collection of photoelastic data from digitised fringe patterns is presented and validated by evaluating the near crack tip stress field parameters for a crack subjected to mode I and mode II loadings.
