Finite Element Analysis of Magnetoelastic Buckling of Eight-Coil Superconducting Full Torus

TL;DR: In this paper, a method of numerical analysis of the magneto-elastic buckling of toroidal field coils is shown on the basis of finite element method, where Lagrange's equation is used to deduce an eigenvalue equation determining the buckling current of the toroidal coils.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental study of energy release due to cracking of epoxy impregnated conductors

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured the temperature rise ΔT due to cracks within epoxy, GFRP and composite conductor specimens by loading mechanically and found that ΔT was large enough, over 10 K, to initiate a quench.
Journal ArticleDOI

A new technique for detection of dynamic crack initiation

TL;DR: In this paper, a new test device was constructed to measure dynamic fracture toughness using electromagnetic force as a dynamic load and a laser system for the detection of load-line deflection.
