The call to integrate technology into education can be used as a starting point for educators' professional growth. Looking at teacher preparation and professional development as much more than technology training, this research bridges the literature and practice of faculty development in educational technology with adult education's transformational learning theory. Research conducted in graduate education courses in educational technology reveals themes of change in their perspective of their profession and educational practice. Technology learning can sometimes be intimidating or frustrating. This article highlights the study's significance of adult learning theory for teachers' professional development and classroom practice particularly in learning to cope with new knowledge bases and incorporating them into practice.

The rapid pace of technological innovation, along with the global fascination with the Internet, continue to result in a dominating call to integrate Internet technologies into higher education. As this practice has evolved in recent years, the field has learned much. However, pressing questions remain as to how online and hybrid (online and face-to-face) classes may support quality and success in professional development, teacher education, and professional schools' programs. This paper presents case study research that explores the dynamics and experience offered for a professor and learners participating in a hybrid-modeled classroom in teacher education. The conceptual discussion includes potentials and limitations to be considered in further dialogue, development, and research in this area.

Identifying Success in Online Teacher Education and Professional Development

The purpose of this mixed method research is to understand and support educators' continuing learning and growth better by using a lens of transformative learning to examine their experience and professional development practice and responsibility. Data from 58 participants and the course professor are analyzed to consider the occurrence of transformative learning and the related needs that emerged. This article also presents trends across the learning experiences and recommendations for practice and responsibility. Additionally, there are implications of the research for higher education professors, administrators, and developers reflecting on their concepts and planning of formal professional development.
