High-concentration coal–water slurry from Indian coals using newly developed additives

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of two newly developed anionic additives in the formulation of coal-water slurry (CWS) has been studied, and the results showed that coal loadings to the extent of 70% in the CWS have been achieved using a concentration of 0.8 wt.% (on coal charge) of the naphthalene-based additive referred to as ‘P’.

System and a process for obtaining high purity phenanthrene from phenanthrene enriched coal tar fraction

TL;DR: In this paper, a system and a process for obtaining phenanthrene of about 95% purity from coal tar distilled fraction containing crude phenanthrone by performing fractional distillation at a reduced pressure of 50 mm mercury and at a temperature range of 160-180° C.

Process for the preparation of diphenic acid

TL;DR: In this paper, a process for the preparation of diphenic acid from phenanthrene is described, which comprises heating phenanthene and glacial acetic acid, adding drop-wise a pre-determined amount of 30% hydrogen peroxide, distilling the resulting mixture under reduced pressure to make the volume half, cooling the mixture till diphenric acid crystalises out, filtering the cooled mixture and boiling the residue after adding 10% solution of sodium carbonate and activated charcoal, filtering and discarding the residue; acidifying the filtrate with hydrogen chloride;
Journal ArticleDOI

Isolation of prime value products from crude xylenol fraction of noncaking coal-derived tar acids

TL;DR: In this article, an efficient method for the separation of prime value products from crude xylenol fraction of noncaking coal-derived tar acids involving suitable distillation technique is described.

Method for preparing diphenic acid

TL;DR: In this paper, a process for the preparation of diphenic acid from phenanthrene is described, which comprises heating phenanthene and glacial acetic acid, adding dropwise a pre-determined amount of 30 % hydrogen peroxide, heating the resulting mixture after completion of drop wise addition of hydrogen peroxy, distilling the resulting resulting mixture under reduced pressure to make the volume half, cooling the mixture till diphensic acid crystalises out, filtering the cooled mixture and boiling the residue after adding 10 % solution of sodium carbonate and activated charcoal, filtering and
