TL;DR: In this article, the authors formulate a three-sector general equilibrium model where two sectors produce final traded goods whereas a third sector produces a non-traded final good, referred to the third sector as a non traded final goods producing health sector.
Abstract: In this paper we formulate a three-sector general equilibrium model where two sectors produce final traded goods whereas a third sector produces a non-traded final good. We refer to the third sector as a non-traded final goods producing health sector. In such a set up we have shown that a movement from a regime of international health capital immobility to a regime of international health capital mobility may lead to an expansion of the health sector. Next we have considered a variant of the basic model and we have shown that the output of the health sector must go up in case of international health capital mobility. Finally in the variant of the model we have shown that a movement from a regime of international capital immobility to a regime of international capital mobility may lead to a contraction of the health sector and one of the sectors (either Agricultural or Manufacturing) vanishes.

TL;DR: A partial equilibrium framework is developed, where the producer of the health quality in South, referred to it as Multinational Health Service Provider (MNHSP), may enjoy some amount of monopoly power as this MNHSP has some special skills or it may introduce new quality of health services.
Abstract: Export of quality of health services to the foreign consumers is considered as a popular way of health trade in the South in recent years. Trade in quality of health services may suffer from the problem of quality signalling from the point of view of the patients of the North. Actually, patients of the North are misdirected by the quality of health services if proper signalling is not provided by the health quality producers of the South. Again signalling incurs some cost and hence production and export of high quality health services becomes unprofitable to the health quality producers of South. Hence, there exists a definite demand–supply mismatch regarding health quality. To capture the issue of quality signalling in the context of health services we want to develop a partial equilibrium framework, where the producer of the health quality in South, we refer to it as Multinational Health Service Provider (MNHSP), may enjoy some amount of monopoly power as this MNHSP has some special skills or it may introduce new quality of health services. The model shows that a movement from autarky to no autarky situation leads to, under reasonable conditions, a decline in signalling costs associated with high quality health services and also leads to an overall increase in demand for high quality health services in the South.

TL;DR: In this paper, a three-sector general equilibrium model of a small open economy with an informal sector was constructed and examined the impact of a less protectionist policy on output levels, factor prices, and the level of urban employment.
Abstract: In this paper, we construct a three‐sector general equilibrium model of a small open economy with an informal sector and examine the impact of a less protectionist policy on output levels, factor prices, and the level of urban employment. We show that the urban unemployment rate has reduced with the contraction of an import‐competing manufacturing sector consequent upon tariff reductions. The informal intermediate sector has contracted as well. A possibility to expand the exportable agricultural sector exists, with an increased wage rate. Our analysis is then extended to introduce foreign capital inflow and examine the output effects and the level of unemployment. Interestingly, in the extended model, urban unemployment is aggravated as a result of an inflow of foreign capital.

TL;DR: In this paper, a hybrid type of three sector general equilibrium trade model in the presence of a nutritional efficiency factor of health consumption is presented, where first two sectors form a Heckscher-Ohlin nugget and the third one is a non-traded health service producing sector.
Abstract: This paper attempts to integrate the issues related to health care, consumption efficiency hypothesis and international trade in the context of a developing economy. In this article we have framed a hybrid type of three sector general equilibrium trade model in the presence of a nutritional efficiency factor of health consumption, where first two sectors form a Heckscher-Ohlin nugget and the third one is a non-traded health service producing sector. Overall, we find little harm from trade, and potential gains from welfare aspect.

TL;DR: The conceptual density functional theory provides a method for analyzing the chemical reactivity in terms of different global reactivity descriptors including electrophilicity and their local counterparts like philicity as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: Conceptual density functional theory provides a method for analyzing the chemical reactivity in terms of different global reactivity descriptors including electrophilicity and their local counterparts like philicity. These concepts’ definitions and various applications that demonstrate their interpretive power are discussed. Global and local electrophilicities are able to account for a wide variety of chemical phenomena.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors focus on how the shrimp culture in Bangladesh is affecting the adjacent environment as well as society and management approach for it's sustain ability by means of reviewing the available scientific literatures.
Abstract: The frozen food export sector, next to readymade garments sector, is the second largest export earner of Bangladesh. Shrimp, main item of frozen food, is a major contributor in the national economy of Bangladesh since mid 1980s. Although it provides millions of employment and earns more than US$ 445 million annually, it has been facing a host of challenges. Shrimp farming has been associated with a number of negative environmental and social impacts which hinder the sustainable development of this blooming sector. This paper aim to focus on how the shrimp culture in Bangladesh is affecting the adjacent environment as well as society and management approach for it’s sustain ability by means of reviewing the available scientific literatures. It finds the grave socioeconomic impacts including traditional livelihood displacement, loss of land security, food insecurity, marginalization, rural unemployment, social unrest and conflicts in the wake of shrimp culture development in Bangladesh. Similarly, environmental impacts such as mangrove degradation, loss of biodiversity, sedimentation, saltwater intrusion, and pollution and disease outbreaks are found to be the main obstacles for the development of sustainable shrimp farming. Inappropriate management practices and inadequate plans regarding water quality, seed supply, irrigation facilities and fishery resources are the main reasons for these impacts of shrimp farming. The effective management measures to mitigate the adverse environmental impact of shrimp farming development have now become urgent requirement.

TL;DR: A comprehensive review of quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSAR) allowing the prediction of the fate of organic compounds in the environment from their molecular properties was done, and the combination of descriptors belonging to different categories led to improve QSAR performances.
Abstract: A comprehensive review of quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSAR) allowing the prediction of the fate of organic compounds in the environment from their molecular properties was done. The considered processes were water dissolution, dissociation, volatilization, retention on soils and sediments (mainly adsorption and desorption), degradation (biotic and abiotic), and absorption by plants. A total of 790 equations involving 686 structural molecular descriptors are reported to estimate 90 environmental parameters related to these processes. A significant number of equations was found for dissociation process (pKa), water dissolution or hydrophobic behavior (especially through the KOW parameter), adsorption to soils and biodegradation. A lack of QSAR was observed to estimate desorption or potential of transfer to water. Among the 686 molecular descriptors, five were found to be dominant in the 790 collected equations and the most generic ones: four quantum-chemical descriptors, the energy of the...
