TL;DR: In this article, the authors formulated a three-sector general equilibrium model where two sectors produce final traded goods whereas a third sector produces a non-traded final good and showed that a movement from a regime of international health capital immobility to an international health sector mobility may lead to expansion of the health sector in the presence of nutritional efficiency of workers.
Abstract: An attempt has been made in this paper to formulate a three-sector general equilibrium model where two sectors produce final traded goods whereas a third sector produces a non-traded final good. It has been referred to the third sector as a non-traded final good producing health sector. In such a set up it has been shown that a movement from a regime of international health capital immobility to a regime of international health capital mobility may lead to an expansion of the health sector in the presence of nutritional efficiency of workers. Apart from that it has also been shown that social welfare of our stylized small open economy will improve.

TL;DR: In this article, a static three sector general equilibrium trade model of a small open economy where health sector is defined as a public subsidized health care was developed, and it was shown that trade liberalization in the form of an increase in foreign health capital inflow leads to an expansion of public health care.
Abstract: This paper attempts to analyze the aspect of public health care in the context of increasing globalization. This paper examines the importance of health trade through mode 3 of General Agreement on trade in services (GATS) in the presence of a public funding health care. For that purpose the paper develops a static three sector general equilibrium trade model of a small open economy where health sector is defined as a public subsidized health care. Evidence shows that trade liberalization in the form of an increase in foreign health capital inflow leads to an expansion of public health care. This paper also shows that health trade through commercial presence may deteriorate the wage inequality. Apart from that in this study we have shown that the level of welfare of the small open economy increases due to trade in health services of mode 3.

TL;DR: In this article, two different models based on Heckscher-Ohlin-Samuelson general equilibrium structure, with special reference to the health sector, have been considered, and it has been shown that trade liberalization leads to an increase in the output level of the Health sector.
Abstract: This paper attempts to integrate among international fragmentation, trade liberalization and health sector. For this purpose we have considered two different models based on Heckscher-Ohlin-Samuelson general equilibrium structure, with special reference to the health sector. In the first model we have considered four sectors and we have assumed the production process of the health sector can be fragmented. In such a setup we have shown that a movement from a regime of no fragmentation to a regime of fragmentation may lead to an expansion of the health sector. In the second model we have considered three sectors and have assumed that production process of the health sector is fragmented. In that structure we have shown that trade liberalization leads to an increase in the output level of the health sector.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors considered a three-sector generalized Harris-Todaro model, where the third sector is the foreign enclave and used sector specific foreign capital to transfer technology from foreign enclave to the domestic enclave.
Abstract: We consider a three-sector Generalized Harris-Todaro model where the third sector is the foreign enclave. It is assumed to be located in the urban area and uses sector specific foreign capital. In this model technology transfer takes place from the foreign enclave to the domestic enclave. A dynamic version of the model is considered. The long-run equilibrium and the comparative steady-state effects are analyzed in the presence of technology transfer. We get some interesting effects of reduction in the tax rate on foreign capital income on the short-run and long-run equilibrium levels of national income and urban unemployment rate under some meaningful conditions.

TL;DR: The conceptual density functional theory provides a method for analyzing the chemical reactivity in terms of different global reactivity descriptors including electrophilicity and their local counterparts like philicity as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: Conceptual density functional theory provides a method for analyzing the chemical reactivity in terms of different global reactivity descriptors including electrophilicity and their local counterparts like philicity. These concepts’ definitions and various applications that demonstrate their interpretive power are discussed. Global and local electrophilicities are able to account for a wide variety of chemical phenomena.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors focus on how the shrimp culture in Bangladesh is affecting the adjacent environment as well as society and management approach for it's sustain ability by means of reviewing the available scientific literatures.
Abstract: The frozen food export sector, next to readymade garments sector, is the second largest export earner of Bangladesh. Shrimp, main item of frozen food, is a major contributor in the national economy of Bangladesh since mid 1980s. Although it provides millions of employment and earns more than US$ 445 million annually, it has been facing a host of challenges. Shrimp farming has been associated with a number of negative environmental and social impacts which hinder the sustainable development of this blooming sector. This paper aim to focus on how the shrimp culture in Bangladesh is affecting the adjacent environment as well as society and management approach for it’s sustain ability by means of reviewing the available scientific literatures. It finds the grave socioeconomic impacts including traditional livelihood displacement, loss of land security, food insecurity, marginalization, rural unemployment, social unrest and conflicts in the wake of shrimp culture development in Bangladesh. Similarly, environmental impacts such as mangrove degradation, loss of biodiversity, sedimentation, saltwater intrusion, and pollution and disease outbreaks are found to be the main obstacles for the development of sustainable shrimp farming. Inappropriate management practices and inadequate plans regarding water quality, seed supply, irrigation facilities and fishery resources are the main reasons for these impacts of shrimp farming. The effective management measures to mitigate the adverse environmental impact of shrimp farming development have now become urgent requirement.

TL;DR: A comprehensive review of quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSAR) allowing the prediction of the fate of organic compounds in the environment from their molecular properties was done, and the combination of descriptors belonging to different categories led to improve QSAR performances.
Abstract: A comprehensive review of quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSAR) allowing the prediction of the fate of organic compounds in the environment from their molecular properties was done. The considered processes were water dissolution, dissociation, volatilization, retention on soils and sediments (mainly adsorption and desorption), degradation (biotic and abiotic), and absorption by plants. A total of 790 equations involving 686 structural molecular descriptors are reported to estimate 90 environmental parameters related to these processes. A significant number of equations was found for dissociation process (pKa), water dissolution or hydrophobic behavior (especially through the KOW parameter), adsorption to soils and biodegradation. A lack of QSAR was observed to estimate desorption or potential of transfer to water. Among the 686 molecular descriptors, five were found to be dominant in the 790 collected equations and the most generic ones: four quantum-chemical descriptors, the energy of the...
