TL;DR: Ru3(CO)12 is an efficient homogeneous catalyst precursor for the conversion 2RCH2OH → RCO2CH2R as discussed by the authors, which requires a hydrogen acceptor molecule; triple bonds and activated double bonds, as well as ketones and aldehydes, function as H-acceptors.

TL;DR: Palladium and platinum are the longest known and most studied of the six platinum metals as discussed by the authors, a reflection of their abundance and consequent availability, and platinum occurs naturally as the element, generally with small amounts of other platinum metals.

TL;DR: Preparation and reactions (substitution, oxydation, reduction, echange isotopique, isomerisation) for hydrogenation are described in this paper. But they do not consider the use of a catalyseur.
