TL;DR: It is recommended that HTLV-11-infected persons be advised not to donate blood, semen, organs, or tissues; to share needles or syringes; not to breast-feed infants when safe nutritional alternatives exist; and to consider the use of barrier precautions to prevent sexual transmission.
