TL;DR: This research seeks to facilitate urban renewal strategies and highlight the significance of ICCP prototype testbed, a real-time cloud to vehicular clients (VCs) in the context of smart car parking system (SCPS) which satisfies deterministic and non-deterministic constraints.
Abstract: Automation of real time car parking system (RTCPS) using mobile cloud computing (MCC) and vehicular networking (VN) has given rise to a novel concept of integrated communication-computing platforms (ICCP). The aim of ICCP is to evolve an effective means of addressing challenges such as improper parking management scheme, traffic congestion in parking lots, insecurity of vehicles (safety applications), and other Infrastructure-to-Vehicle (I2V) services for providing data dissemination and content delivery services to connected Vehicular Clients (VCs). Edge (parking lot based) Fog computing (EFC) through road side sensor based monitoring is proposed to achieve ICCP. A real-time cloud to vehicular clients (VCs) in the context of smart car parking system (SCPS) which satisfies deterministic and non-deterministic constraints is introduced. Vehicular cloud computing (VCC) and intra-Edge-Fog node architecture is presented for ICCP. This is targeted at distributed mini-sized self-energized Fog nodes/data centers, placed between distributed remote cloud and VCs. The architecture processes data-disseminated real-time services to the connected VCs. The work built a prototype testbed comprising a black box PSU, Arduino IoT Duo, GH-311RT ultrasonic distance sensor and SHARP 2Y0A21 passive infrared sensor for vehicle detection; LinkSprite 2MP UART JPEG camera module, SD card module, RFID card reader, RDS3115 metal gear servo motors, FPM384 fingerprint scanner, GSM Module and a VCC web portal. The testbed functions at the edge of the vehicular network and is connected to the served VCs through Infrastructure-to-Vehicular (I2V) TCP/IP-based single-hop mobile links. This research seeks to facilitate urban renewal strategies and highlight the significance of ICCP prototype testbed. Open challenges and future research directions are discussed for an efficient VCC model which runs on networked fog centers (NetFCs).

TL;DR: It was observed that the network throughput, fault-tolerance/network capacity, utilization, latency, service availability, scalability and clustering effects of R-DCN responses with respect to above Key Performance (KPIs) metrics were satisfactory when compared with BCube and DCell architectures.
Abstract: With the astronomical growth in online presence vis-a-vis the IT industry across the globe, there is an urgent need to evolve cloud based DataCenter architectures that can rapidly accommodate web application integrations which can serve the energy industries, educational sector, finance sector, manufacturing sector, etc. Previous works in DataCenter domain have not investigated on cloud based DataCenter Servercentric characteristics for evaluation studies. This paper then proposed a Reengineered DataCenter (R-DCN) architecture for efficient web application integration. In this regard, attempt was made to address network scalability, efficient and distributed routing, packets traffic control, and network security using analytical formulations and behavioural algorithms having considered some selected architectures. In this work a simulation experiment was carried out to study six key performance metrics for all the architectures. It was observed that the network throughput, fault-tolerance/network capacity, utilization, latency, service availability, scalability and clustering effects of R-DCN responses with respect to above Key Performance (KPIs) metrics were satisfactory when compared with BCube and DCell architectures. Future work will show a detailed validation using a cloud testbed and CloudSim Simulator.

TL;DR: Flexibility and cost effectiveness characterizes the system for smart grid mixed energy metering paradigm, which contrasts with existing systems in terms of full ISO 14000 quality assurance compliance metrics and on-demand/real time consumption profiling.
Abstract: The absence of real time energy consumption information (RTECI) has often made electricity users in many developing countries to be at loggerheads with their service providers. A cloud based metering infrastructure is developed as a viable solution. This paper offers basic information regarding cloud based advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) for analysis in extended smart green energy management system (e-SGEMS). The system has novel flexibilities in automated energy monitoring platform for both end-users and their utility vendors. Lean system approach involving Software Development Life Cycle framework is applied. The system allows users to obtain their exact consumption pattern in Kw, Kw/Month and Kw/Year using a negligible cost reflective tariff of 0.17 as derived from a renewable metered micro-gird. The proposed system contrasts with existing systems in terms of full ISO 14000 quality assurance compliance metrics and on-demand/real time consumption profiling. MySQL and Java server page are used for the metering simulation and cloud integration. The hardware runs on C++ executable scripts. The system is validated through a full cycle usability tests in loaded and non-loaded case scenarios. This solution provides real-time access to energy consumption information at the point of metering in an access controlled cloud environment. Flexibility and cost effectiveness characterizes the system for smart grid mixed energy metering paradigm.

TL;DR: A systematic survey of up-to-date OpenFlow-based SDN programming languages based on a taxonomy comprising all prominent features found in those languages, discussing the main ongoing research efforts and challenges.
Abstract: Network devices have always been considered as configurable black boxes until the emergence of software-defined networking (SDN). SDN enables the networks to be programmed according to the user requirements; furthermore, it allows the network to be easily modified to suit transient demands. However, how do we program the network? SDN-compliant switches offer a low-level interface that makes programming error-prone. The controllers provide application programming interfaces, but still low-level, limited, and inflexible. High-level languages have the potential to be a better alternative to program the network. There exist several SDN programming languages implementing different sets of functionalities, and focusing on solving various issues. In face of all this diversity, no published paper outlines a pragmatic view allowing to compare the SDN languages. This paper presents a systematic survey of up-to-date OpenFlow-based SDN programming languages. Our approach relies on a taxonomy comprising all prominent features found in those languages. A detailed review of the existing works is carried out investigating the foundational parts of the languages with their contributions. Examples are discussed to illustrate the fundamental abstractions. Last, all gathered information is summarized, discussing the main ongoing research efforts and challenges. Future abstractions and features to be incorporated into the next generations of SDN programming languages are also considered.
