Predicting impact of freshwater exotic species on native biodiversity: Challenges in spatial scaling

TL;DR: This work addresses the issue of management of freshwater exotic species on lakes or drainages that are both vulnerable to colonization by an exotic, and that harbour endemic species, with different spatial scales of experiments testing the impact of two predators on native snail assemblages.
Journal ArticleDOI

Resource overlap and competition in pond snails: an experimental analysis'

Kenneth M. Brown
- 01 Apr 1982 -
TL;DR: Data on size-specific reproductive rates suggest that the earlier reproducing P. gyrina may be able to exploit more ephemeral habitats as refuges, and high overlap along the habitat and dietary dimensions of the niche results in competition in these freshwater snails.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oyster reef restoration in the northern Gulf of Mexico: Extent, methods and outcomes

TL;DR: In this paper, a database of northern Gulf of Mexico inshore artificial oyster reefs created for restoration purposes, and quantitatively assesses a subset of reefs to determine project outcomes.
