Journal ArticleDOI
Digital cameras with designs inspired by the arthropod eye
Young Min Song,Y. Xie,Viktor Malyarchuk,Jianliang Xiao,Inhwa Jung,Ki Joong Choi,Zhuangjian Liu,Hyunsung Park,Chaofeng Lü,Chaofeng Lü,Rak-Hwan Kim,Rui Li,Rui Li,Kenneth B. Crozier,Yonggang Huang,John A. Rogers +15 more
TL;DR: The devices combine elastomeric compound optical elements with deformable arrays of thin silicon photodetectors into integrated sheets that can be elastically transformed from the planar geometries in which they are fabricated to hemispherical shapes for integration into apposition cameras.
Journal ArticleDOI
Experimental and Theoretical Studies of Serpentine Microstructures Bonded To Prestrained Elastomers for Stretchable Electronics
Yihui Zhang,Yihui Zhang,Shuodao Wang,Xuetong Li,Xuetong Li,Jonathan A. Fan,Sheng Xu,Young Min Song,Young Min Song,Ki Joong Choi,Woon-Hong Yeo,Woosik Lee,Sharaf Nafees Nazaar,Bingwei Lu,Bingwei Lu,Lan Yin,Keh Chih Hwang,John A. Rogers,Yonggang Huang +18 more
TL;DR: In this article, the use of prestrain in the substrate is introduced, together with interconnects in narrow, serpentine shapes, to yield significantly enhanced elastic stretchability, to more than 100%.
Journal ArticleDOI
Markerless chromosomal gene deletion in Clostridium beijerinckii using CRISPR/Cas9 system.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that clean markerless gene deletion from the chromosome can be easily achieved with a high efficiency through a single-step transformation in Clostridium beijerinckii NCIMB 8052, one of the most prominent strains for acetone, butanol and ethanol production.
Journal ArticleDOI
In-Plane Deformation Mechanics for Highly Stretchable Electronics.
Yewang Su,Xuecheng Ping,Ki Jun Yu,Jung Woo Lee,Jung Woo Lee,Jonathan A. Fan,Bo Wang,Ming Li,Rui Li,Daniel V. Harburg,Yong An Huang,Yong An Huang,Cunjiang Yu,Shimin Mao,Jaehoun Shim,Qinglin Yang,Pei-Yin Lee,Agne Armonas,Ki Joong Choi,Yichen Yang,Ungyu Paik,Tammy Chang,Thomas J. Dawidczyk,Yonggang Huang,Shuodao Wang,John A. Rogers +25 more
TL;DR: Scissoring in thick bars suppresses buckling behavior in serpentine traces that have thicknesses greater than their widths, as detailed in a systematic set of analytical and experimental studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
