Journal ArticleDOI
Relation of Academic Performance to Physical Activity and Fitness in Children
TL;DR: The results are concordant with the hypothesis that physical activity enhances academic performance, but the cross-sectional nature of the observations limits causal inference, and the disparity for PWC170 gives reason to question whether the associations were due to measurement bias or residual confounding.
Journal ArticleDOI
Full spectrum of psychiatric outcomes among offspring with parental history of mental disorder.
Kimberlie Dean,Hanne Stevens,Preben Bo Mortensen,Robin M. Murray,Elizabeth Walsh,Carsten Bøcker Pedersen +5 more
TL;DR: The impact of parental history of mental disorder was not confined to elevated offspring risk of concordant disorders but rather offspring are at increased risk of a wide range of mental disorders, particularly those with 2 affected parents.
Journal ArticleDOI
International Perspectives on the practical application of violence risk assessment : a global survey of 44 countries
Jay Singh,Sarah L. Desmarais,Cristina Hurducas,Karin Arbach-Lucioni,Carolina Condemarin,Kimberlie Dean,Michael Doyle,Jorge Oscar Folino,Verónica Godoy-Cervera,Martin Grann,Robyn Mei Yee Ho,Matthew Large,Louise Hjort Nielsen,Thierry H. Pham,Maria Franscisca Rebocho,Kim A. Reeves,Martin Rettenberger,Corine de Ruiter,Katharina Seewald,Randy K. Otto +19 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that violence risk assessment is a global phenomenon, as is the use of instruments to assist in this task, and improved feedback following risk assessments and the development of risk management plans could improve the efficacy of health services.
Journal ArticleDOI
Violent offending by UK military personnel deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan: a data linkage cohort study
Deirdre MacManus,Kimberlie Dean,Kimberlie Dean,Margaret Jones,Roberto J. Rona,Neil Greenberg,Neil Greenberg,Lisa Hull,Thomas Fahy,Simon Wessely,Nicola T. Fear,Nicola T. Fear +11 more
TL;DR: The use of criminal records is used to investigate the effect of deployment, combat, and post-deployment mental health problems on violent offending among military personnel relative to pre-existing risk factors and assess the risk factors for violent offending.
Journal ArticleDOI
Environmental risk factors for psychosis.
Kimberlie Dean,Robin M. Murray +1 more
TL;DR: Risks operating prenatally and perinatally, during childhood, and then later in life prior to illness onset, are considered, for example, early hazards causing fetal growth retardation or hypoxia, and hazards nearer the onset of illness like drug abuse and migration.
