TL;DR: An ultrasonic gas flowmeter includes a measuring pipe with flowing gas, transmitting and receiving sound transducers, transmission and reception electronics, and evaluation electronics as discussed by the authors, which is designed as capacitive electroacoustic ultrasonic transducers to construct a flowmeter with improved capacity.
Abstract: An ultrasonic gas flowmeter includes a measuring pipe with flowing gas, transmitting and receiving sound transducers, transmission and reception electronics, and evaluation electronics. The sound transducers (7, 8, 9, 10) are designed as capacitive electro-acoustic ultrasonic transducers to construct a flowmeter with improved capacity, especially in view of temperature stability and the reduction and consideration of a temperature profile. Devices (5, 6) are provided to level the gas temperature profile and to minimize the influence of the temperature profile on the flow measurement. A more accurate and dependable detection of the volume flow or the mass flow of gases is to be achieved, especially in highly dynamic flows, for the method of determining the flow of gases whereby the mean flow velocity is determined and the flowing gas quantity is determined with highly synchronized resolution from the two transit times of two acoustic signals. In addition, an assessed value is computed (35) for the flow after the determination of the transit times and the assessed value is corrected at least by means of a characteristic temperature of the gas and the temperature of the wall of the measuring pipe (36).

TL;DR: In this article, a measuring arrangement including a sensor (1), an interpretation unit (3) connected to said sensor via a detachable connection cable (2), and a memory module (4) having sensor-relevant data was presented.
Abstract: A measuring arrangement including a sensor (1), an interpretation unit (3) connected to said sensor via a detachable connection cable (2), and a memory module (4) having sensor-relevant data whereby the memory module is assigned to the sensor and may be interrogated by the interpretation unit to simplify deference of the sensor-relevant data in the interpretation unit (3) following a possible exchange of sensors. The memory module (4) is arranged outside of the sensor (1) so that the arrangement can also be employed in a rough environment whereby there is provided on the sensor (1) itself an identification unit (5) having a sensor identification ability that may be correlated with the memory module (4).

Abstract: The arrangement has a sensor (1) and an evaluation unit (3) connected to it via a connection cable (2) that can be disconnected and a memory unit (4) with sensor-relevant data associated with the sensor that can be queried by the evaluation unit. The memory unit is arranged outside the sensor, whereby there is an identification unit (5) in or on the sensor itself with a sensor identity for correlation with the memory unit.

TL;DR: In this paper, speed n and indicated torque MM are measured under controlled operating conditions in both a run-up phase as well as in a coasting phase, in order to eliminate the loss moment in the determination of the moment of inertia.
Abstract: For largely automatic determination of the moment of inertia of, in particular, an internal combustion engine on a testing stand, speed n and indicated torque MM are measured under controlled operating conditions in both a run-up phase as well as in a coasting phase. In order to eliminate the loss moment in the determination of the moment of inertia, the measuring points of the respectively same speed from the run-up phase and the coasting phase are interpreted in combination, this enabling an exact determination of the moment of inertia in a very simple way with the devices that are usually already present at a testing stand.

TL;DR: In this paper, a filling-level regulating device is provided at a port of the venting tank, which has a circulation pump and an actuating valve, and is open to a greater or lesser degree as a function of the filling level to be regulated.
Abstract: In order to continuously measure the dynamic fuel consumption of an internal combustion engine having a venting tank (10) which is arranged in a feedback line (11) from the outflow side (12) of the fuel system (7) and which is also connected to the inflow line (13) to the fuel system, a filling-level regulating device (15) is provided at a port of the venting tank (10), which filling-level regulating device (15) has a circulation pump (22) and an actuating valve (9) which is connected thereto, has a continuous flow through it, and is open to a greater or lesser degree as a function of the filling level to be regulated. As a result, apparent consumption occurring in specific operating states of the internal combustion engine can be avoided or taken into account as corrections.

TL;DR: In this article, a method of determining a fluid inflow profile along the length of a permeable inflow region of an underground wellbore is proposed, where the heater cable may have a layer of compacted mineral powder and temperatures may be measured with an optical fiber.
Abstract: A method of determining a fluid inflow profile along the length of a permeable inflow region of an underground wellbore comprising: transferring heat into or from the permeable inflow region of the wellbore during a well shut period; starting production of hydrocarbon fluids via the permeable inflow region; measuring substantially simultaneously the temperature of the fluids at various points of the inflow region; determining at selected intervals of time after production start up a temperature profile of the inflow region on the basis of the thus measured temperatures; and determining a fluid inflow profile of the inflow region on the basis of a comparison of the determined temperature profiles at selected intervals after production start up. The heater cable may have a layer of compacted mineral powder and temperatures may be measured with an optical fiber.

TL;DR: In this article, a system and method for monitoring and delivering medication to a patient is described, which includes a controller that has a control algorithm and a closed loop control that monitors the control algorithm.
Abstract: A system and method for monitoring and delivering medication to a patient. The system includes a controller that has a control algorithm and a closed loop control that monitors the control algorithm. A sensor is in communication with the controller and monitors a medical condition. A rule based application in the controller receives data from the sensor and the closed loop control and compares the data to predetermined medical information to determine the risk of automation of therapy to the patient. A system monitor is also in communication with the controller to monitor system, remote system, and network activity and conditions. The controller then provides a predetermined risk threshold where below the predetermined risk threshold automated closed loop medication therapy is provided. If the predetermined risk threshold is met or exceeded, automated therapy adjustments may not occur and user/clinician intervention is requested.
