TL;DR: In this article, a process for producing a positive material with a skeleton made of shell-like structures and an interconnecting pore system designed between the skeleton structures was described, and a negative material made of shaped bodies interconnected by bridges.
Abstract: A process is disclosed for producing a positive-material with a skeleton made of shell-like structures and an interconnecting pore system designed between the skeleton structures. Also disclosed is a process for producing a negative-material made of shaped bodies interconnected by bridges, a process for producing a positive/negative-material, materials produced by this process and their use as bone replacement materials, implants, filters and drug delivery systems. According to this process deformable shaped bodies in bulk are poured into a mould that forms a negative model of the material.

TL;DR: In this paper, a verfahren zur Herstellung eines Positiv/Negativ-Werkstoffs with einem schalenartigen Gerust and einem zwischen dem Gerust ausgebildeten Interkonnektierenden Poren system is found.

TL;DR: BoneCement as mentioned in this paper is composed of a mixture of particulate polyacrylate and polymethacryl prepolymers, monomeric acrylic and/or methacrylic acid derivatives, a polymerisation catalyst and, optionally, a stabiliser and an activator.
Abstract: 1. Bone cement composed of a mixture of particulate polyacrylate and/or polymethacrylate prepolymers, monomeric acrylic and/or methacrylic acid derivatives, a polymerisation catalyst and, optionally, a stabiliser and an activator, wherein the entire specific surface of the prepolymer particles in the bone cement is enlarged by preteating the particles mechanically and/or chemically before mixing them.

TL;DR: An expandable spacer as discussed by the authors is an axial tube having a surface, a proximal end and a distal end and length, wherein, said surface defines a plurality of slits, such that when said tube is axially compressed, said extensions extend out of said surface and define a geometry of an expanded spacer.
Abstract: An expandable spacer, comprising: an axial tube having a surface, a proximal end and a distal end and a length, wherein, said surface defines a plurality of slits, said plurality of slits defining at least two axially displaced extensions, such that when said tube is axially compressed, said extensions extend out of said surface and define a geometry of an expanded spacer. Preferably the spacer is adapted to be inserted between two spinal vertebrae of a human.

TL;DR: In this article, an interbody fusion device (10') in one embodiment includes a load bearing body (11') defining a hollow interior or chamber (15) for receiving an osteogenic material.
Abstract: An interbody fusion device (10') in one embodiment includes a load bearing body (11') defining a hollow interior or chamber (15) for receiving an osteogenic material. In another embodiment, the tapered body is solid and formed of a porous biocompatible material having sufficient structural integrity to maintain the intradiscal space and normal curvature. The material is preferably a porous tantalum composite having fully interconnected pores to facilitate complete bone tissue ingrowth into the implant. A cap (300) is also provided to block the opening (15a) of the hollow fusion device (10'). The cap (300) includes an occlusion body (301) and an elongated anchor (310). In some embodiments the anchor includes a lip (315) which is engageable to openings (24') in the body wall. Tools are also provided for manipulating caps for interbody fusion devices. In one embodiment the tool includes a cap-engaging tip for engaging a threaded tool hole (320) in the cap (300).

TL;DR: In this article, an intervertebral spacer implant (80) is provided with a retention mechanism (86) to help alleviate expulsion and movement of the implant when placed in the spine.
Abstract: An intervertebral spacer implant (80) is provided with a retention mechanism (86) to help alleviate expulsion and movement of the implant when placed in the spine while providing an implant that is easier to insert in the spine. In one embodiment the retention mechanism comprises a keel on at least one of the inferior or superior faces of the spacer implant preferably extending in an anterior-posterior direction. In another embodiment the implant comprises a spacer (84) and a plate (82), the plate comprising a supplemental or alternative retention mechanism. In one embodiment the retention mechanism comprises one or more holes (88) in the anterior end of the plate. In yet another embodiment, the retention mechanism comprises one or more blades that are in a first position when inserted and are preferably rotated to a second position that engages the superior and inferior vertebrae.

TL;DR: An implant for insertion into a disc space between vertebrae, wherein the implant includes a spacer portion, a plate portion coupled to the spacer, two bone fixation elements for engaging the vertebraes and a retention mechanism for preventing the bone fixation element from postoperatively backing-out of the plate portion, is described in this article.
Abstract: An implant for insertion into a disc space between vertebrae, wherein the implant includes a spacer portion, a plate portion coupled to the spacer portion, two bone fixation elements for engaging the vertebrae and a retention mechanism for preventing the bone fixation elements from postoperatively backing-out of the plate portion The retention mechanism may be in the form of a spring biased snapper element that is biased into communication with the bone fixation elements so that once the bone fixation element advances past the snapper element, the snapper element is biased back to its initial position in which the snapper element interfaces with the bone fixation elements Alternatively, the retention mechanism may be in the form of a propeller rotatable between a first position in which the bone fixation elements are insertable to a second position where the bone fixation elements are prevented from backing-out
