Deformed Lattice Detection in Real-World Images Using Mean-Shift Belief Propagation

TL;DR: Quantitative comparisons of the proposed method with existing algorithms on a diverse set of 261 real-world photos to demonstrate significant advances in accuracy and speed over the state of the art in automatic discovery of regularity in real images.
Book ChapterDOI

Image de-fencing revisited

TL;DR: A novel image defencing method suitable for consumer photography, where plausible results must be achieved under common camera settings, using novel symmetry-augmented inpainting, which combines traditional texture synthesis with an increased pool of candidate patches found by simulating bilateral symmetry patterns from the source image.
Book ChapterDOI

Translation-symmetry-based perceptual grouping with applications to urban scenes

TL;DR: This work proposes a novel mid-level visual feature detector where the visual elements are grouped based on the 2D translation subgroup of a wallpaper pattern, which can detect multiple, semantically relevant 2D lattices in a scene simultaneously, achieving an effective translation-symmetry-based segmentation.
