Journal ArticleDOI
BATSE observations of gamma-ray burst spectra. I: Spectral diversity
James L. Matteson,L. Ford,B. E. Schaefer,D. M. Palmer,Bonnard J. Teegarden,T. L. Cline,Michael S. Briggs,W. S. Paciesas,G. N. Pendleton,Gerald J. Fishman,Chryssa Kouveliotou,C. A. Meegan,Robert W. Wilson,P. Lestrade +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors studied the time-averaged gamma-ray burst spectra accumulated by the spectroscopy detectors of the Burst and Transient Source Experiment (BTSE).
Proceedings ArticleDOI
BATSE observations of gamma‐ray burst spectral diversity
J. Matterson,L. Ford,B. Schaefer,D. Palmer,B. Teegarden,T. Cline,G. Fishman,C. Meegan,Robert W. Wilson,William S. Paciesas,G. Pendleton,P. Lestrade +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors fit the spectra of 58 bursts observed by the BATSE Spectroscopy Detectors to a 4-parameter model consisting of two power laws with a smooth transition, finding that a distribution of spectral indices is required instead of the low energy E−1 dependence found in previous work.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Spectral Evolution of Gamma-Ray Bursts
James L. Matteson,L. Ford,B. Schaefer,B. Teegarden,T. Cline,William S. Paciesas,G. N. Pendleton,Gerald J. Fishman,Charles A. Meegan,Robert W. Wilson,P. Lestrade +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, a series of high resolution spectra over the duration of a gamma-ray burst is provided, and fits to these spectra show the evolution of the continuum as the burst progresses.
