Journal ArticleDOI
GFP-expressing mammalian cells for fast, sensitive, noninvasive cell growth assessment in a kinetic mode.
TL;DR: The fluorescent signal from stable recombinant CHO cell lines expressing the green fluorescent protein (GFP) at high levels with biomass or cell number is correlated, extending the use of fluorescent proteins to applications and assays where cell growth rates are important.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fluorescent proteins in animal cells for process development: Optimization of sodium butyrate treatment as an example
TL;DR: The results demonstrate that the fluorescence of these cell lines quickly reveals conditions that might improve the overall productivity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low‐temperature pausing of cultivated mammalian cells
L. Hunt,David L. Hacker,Frederic Grosjean,Maria De Jesus,Lorenz Uebersax,Martin Jordan,Florian M. Wurm +6 more
TL;DR: The "pausing" of cells for days or weeks at temperatures below 37 degrees C in a variety of cultivation vessels points to a general biological phenomenon which may have a wide range of applications for cultivated mammalian cells.
Book ChapterDOI
The SPP Biotech Module 1: Proteins for Medical Applications a Multidisciplinary Effort for the Development of a Recombinant Anti-RhD Antibody Preparation of Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn
Hanspeter Amstutz,Sylvia Miescher,Radmila Moudry,S. Dejardin,Martin A. Imboden,J.-J. Morgenthaler,M. Zahn,Michel Kobr,Igor Fisch,Blaise Corthésy,Nicolas Mermod,L. Berruex,M. Abdellali,O. Girard,R. Ribicki,Florian M. Wurm +31 more
TL;DR: The aims of this team are to establish the prophylactic principle and the manufacturing process for anti-D therapy based on recombinant antibody preparations produced from Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells.
Book ChapterDOI
Pausing of mammalian cells by cold exposure, limits and opportunities
L. Hunt,David L. Hacker,H. El Abridi,Frederic Grosjean,M. Dejesus,Martin Jordan,Florian M. Wurm +6 more
TL;DR: The first observations to pause cell cultures by temperature reduction are reported, taking advantage of the availability of stable GFP-transfected CHO cells whose biomass in culture could be fast and noninvasively monitored by a standard fluorescence reader.
