Journal ArticleDOI
Candidate gene expression and intramuscular fat content in pigs.
Nick V. L. Serão,Renata Veroneze,André Mauric Frossard Ribeiro,L.L. Verardo,J. Braccini Neto,Eliane Gasparino,C. F. Campos,Paulo Sávio Lopes,Simone Eliza Facioni Guimarães +8 more
TL;DR: The highly positive correlation of the LDLR and FAPB3 expression with IMF content may confirm that these genes are important for fat deposition in the porcine L. dorsi muscle.
Journal ArticleDOI
Revealing new candidate genes for reproductive traits in pigs: combining Bayesian GWAS and functional pathways.
L.L. Verardo,L.L. Verardo,Fabyano Fonseca e Silva,Marcos S. Lopes,Ole Madsen,John W M Bastiaansen,Egbert F. Knol,M. Kelly,Luis Varona,Paulo Sávio Lopes,Simone Eliza Facioni Guimarães +10 more
TL;DR: A Bayesian treatment of a GWAS model assuming a Poisson distribution for SB and NT in a commercial pig line showed that the Poisson model presented the best fit for SB, and counting models should be considered for this kind of trait.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome-wide Association Study and Annotating Candidate Gene Networks Affecting Age at First Calving in Nellore Cattle
Rodrigo Reis Mota,Rodrigo Reis Mota,Simone Eliza Facioni Guimarães,Marina R. S. Fortes,Ben J. Hayes,F. F. e Silva,L.L. Verardo,M. Kelly,C.F. de Campos,José Domingos Guimarães,Raphael Rocha Wenceslau,Jurandy Mauro Penitente-Filho,José Fernando Garcia,Stephen S. Moore +13 more
TL;DR: Evidence suggests that AFC inheritance is complex and controlled by multiple loci across the genome, and several windows explaining higher proportion of the genetic variance were identified on chromosome 14, further studies investigating the interaction across haplotypes should be undertaken.

Revealing new candidate genes for reproductive traits in pigs
L.L. Verardo,F. F. e Silva,Marcos S. Lopes,Ole Madsen,John W M Bastiaansen,Egbert F. Knol,M. Kelly,Luis Varona,Paulo Sávio Lopes,Simone Eliza Facioni Guimarães +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a Bayesian treatment of a GWAS model assuming a Poisson distribution for stillborn piglets (SB) and number of teats (NT) was performed and tested a commercial pig line.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bayesian GWAS and network analysis revealed new candidate genes for number of teats in pigs
L.L. Verardo,F. F. e Silva,Luis Varona,Marcos Deon Vilela de Resende,John W M Bastiaansen,Paulo Sávio Lopes,Simone Eliza Facioni Guimarães +6 more
TL;DR: A full Bayesian treatment of SNP association analysis for number of teats assuming alternatively Gaussian and Poisson distributions for this trait and the results suggest the presence of 19 significant SNPs, which mapped 13 genes.
