Antipsychotic-Induced Weight Gain: A Comprehensive Research Synthesis
David B. Allison,Janet L. Mentore,Moonseong Heo,L.P. Chandler,Joseph C. Cappelleri,Ming C. Infante,Peter J. Weiden +6 more
TL;DR: Among the newer antipsychotic agents, clozapine appears to have the greatest potential to induce weight gain, and ziprasidone the least, and the differences among newer agents may affect compliance with medication and health risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reliability and validity of a structured interview guide for the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (SIGH‐A)
M. Katherine Shear,Joni Vander Bilt,Paola Rucci,Jean Endicott,Bruce Lydiard,Michael W. Otto,Mark H. Pollack,L.P. Chandler,Jenna Williams,Arjumand Ali,David M. Frank +10 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that in settings where extensive training is not practical, the structured scale is an acceptable alternative to the traditional Hamilton Anxiety instrument.
Journal ArticleDOI
The distribution of body mass index among individuals with and without schizophrenia.
David B. Allison,Kevin R. Fontaine,Moonseong Heo,Moonseong Heo,Janet L. Mentore,Joseph C. Cappelleri,L.P. Chandler,Peter J. Weiden,Peter J. Weiden,Lawrence J. Cheskin +9 more
TL;DR: Although there may be a small subpopulation of schizophrenic individuals who are underweight, individuals with schizophrenia were, on the whole, as obese as or more obese than individuals without schizophrenia, suggesting that weight gain induced by antipsychotic agents is an important concern for many individuals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Validation of the behavioural activity rating scale (BARS): a novel measure of activity in agitated patients.
TL;DR: BARS showed psychometrically valid properties for measurement of behavioral activity in acutely agitated patients with psychosis, and Virtually perfect inter- and intra-rater reliability was achieved.
