Abstract: This study presents adolescents' point of view about family. Twelve female adolescents, 12 to 17 year old, institutionalized after being abused by their families, showed their family concepts, and their expectations about having a family in the future, in two focus groups. The focus groups "A" and "B" were analyzed, separately, as unique contexts. Focus group "A" revealed their point of view about family, based on emotional ties, where the parents' responsibilities and roles were overlapped, and the relationships were marked by violence. Focus group "B" revealed their point of view about family, based on a traditional related family, with pre determined parents' roles, and the relationships were marked by reciprocity. Both groups were marked by idealization of family. The expectations about having their own family in the future were presented in each group, but with different configuration and roles from the one they have now This attitude can be seem as a protective way against the risk situations they are living, and as a hope for change in their future.

Abstract: Esta pesquisa identificou as praticas educativas parentais, com enfase em castigos e punicoes corporais, por meio do relato de estudantes. Responderam a um questionario com 61 questoes, 472 criancas e adolescentes de ambos os sexos e com idade entre oito e 16 anos. A maioria dos participantes relatou que ja recebera punicoes corporais (88,1%) e castigos (64,8%). Sobre punicoes corporais, 86,1% apanharam da mae e 58,6% apanharam do pai; 36,9% dos participantes relataram que ja ficaram machucados. A maioria dos participantes apanhou nas nadegas (64,7%), e os punidores utilizaram mais frequentemente as proprias maos (62,3%), embora cinto (43,0%) e chinelo (42,3%) tambem tenham servido para punir. A avaliacao que os participantes fizeram sobre os metodos disciplinares revelou uma contradicao: 75,2% concordaram que, quando fazem coisas erradas, as criancas devem apanhar, mas somente 34,5% afirmaram que utilizarao punicoes corporais em seus filhos, e um numero consideravel (27,1%) afirmou estar em duvida. As implicacoes do uso da punicao corporal foram discutidas.

One fundamental stage is developing nursing diagnoses, which is a complex theme and not much explored in Neonatal Nursing. The potential use of computer technology in teaching and continuous education in nursing was the motivation for developing the present study with the objective to develop and evaluate an interactive virtual learning object about diagnostic reasoning in nursing applied to preterm newborns at the neonatal intermediate care unit. This descriptive study used the pedagogical framework of problem-posing and computer-assisted instruction, Bernardo's method of software development and Risner's thinking model to elaborate the nursing diagnosis, according to the NANDA-I taxonomy. The teaching simulations and learning exercises for diagnostic reasoning in nursing included real cases of preterm newborns, which were adapted and designed based on a model for developing clinical cases with educational means, and organized according to basic human needs. The cases were validated by five nursing professors, experts in neonatal nursing and diagnostic reasoning. The software was developed using the tool by Macromedia Authorware®, included in a virtual learning environment on the Internet, the Moodle, and media processed in specific software depending on their type. The virtual interactive learning object was organized in modules, consisting of a presentation, justification, objectives, technical record, image gallery, support tests and references; theoretical content about Nursing Diagnosis; automatic presentations of three clinical cases of preterm newborns at the neonatal intermediate care unit, totaling 32 Nursing Diagnoses, and simulation exercises of four clinical cases of preterm newborns, thus adding up to 40 Nursing Diagnoses. Appearance and content evaluations of the virtual object regarding the aspects related to presentation, organization, use and overall impression were performed by experts in computer technology (12) and nursing (31). Each sub-item from the instruments contained the evaluation on a Likert scale and a space for comments/suggestions. All items received positive evaluations by over 80% of the evaluators, except for the information density criterion on the evaluation by computer technology experts. Hence, the developed product is considered adequate to be used in students and continuous education in nursing about diagnostic reasoning in the elaboration of Nursing Diagnoses for preterm newborns, in the pedagogical framework of problem-posing.

Abstract: RESUMO - A sociedade contemporânea ocidental estendeu o periodo da adolescencia, que nao e mais encarada apenas como uma preparacao para a vida adulta, mas passou a adquirir sentido em si mesma, como um estagio do ciclo vital. O presente artigo procura descrever como os adolescentes eram vistos e tratados, desde a antiguidade ate os dias de hoje, a partir de textos literarios ou filosoficos e estudos cientificos. O material bibliografico a respeito da adolescencia caracteriza-se por tres etapas distintas: a descricao dos padroes de comportamento, ajustamento pessoal e relacionamento; a resolucao de problemas reais por meio do conhecimento cientifico; e o desenvolvimento positivo do individuo, considerando os adolescentes como o futuro da humanidade. Palavras-chave: adolescencia, historia, teorias sobre adolescencia. ABSTRACT - Contemporary western society has extended the period of adolescence, which is no longer seen as a preparation for adult life, but began to make sense of itself as part of the human lifecycle. The present article aims to describe how adolescents have been seen and treated, from antiquity to the present days, as reported by literary or philosophical texts and scientific studies. The bibliographic material on adolescence is characterized by three distinct stages: description of behavior, personal adjustment, and relationship patterns; problem solving through scientific knowledge; and the positive development of the individual, considering adolescents as the future of mankind. Abstract: A historia mostra que, desde os tempos primitivos ate o momento presente, a violencia contra a crianca se apresenta como um fenomeno social e cultural de grande relevância. Em diferentes sociedades as formas, as mais crueis e as mais sutis, se diferenciam. No Brasil podemos distinguir uma violencia estrutural, cujas expressoes mais fortes sao o trabalho infantil, a existencia de criancas vivendo nas ruas e em instituicoes fechadas; uma violencia social, cujas mais vivas expressoes se configuram na violencia domestica; uma violencia delinquencial, na qual as criancas sao vitimas e atores. O Estatuto da Crianca e do Adolescente oferece importante instrumento para que a sociedade e o estado possam, reconhecendo o protagonismo desses sujeitos, buscar superar as formas de violencia que prejudicam o seu crescimento e desenvolvimento e, portanto, o desenvolvimento social.
