Journal ArticleDOI
Relationship of blood transfusion and clinical outcomes in patients with acute coronary syndromes.
Sunil V. Rao,James G. Jollis,Robert A. Harrington,Christopher B. Granger,L. Kristin Newby,Paul W. Armstrong,David J. Moliterno,Lauren Lindblad,Karen S. Pieper,Eric J. Topol,Jonathan S. Stamler,Robert M. Califf +11 more
TL;DR: Blood transfusion in the setting of acute coronary syndromes is associated with higher mortality, and this relationship persists after adjustment for other predictive factors and timing of events.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of disodium EDTA chelation regimen on cardiovascular events in patients with previous myocardial infarction: the TACT randomized trial.
Gervasio A. Lamas,Christine Goertz,Robin Boineau,Daniel B. Mark,Theodore Rozema,Richard L. Nahin,Lauren Lindblad,Eldrin F. Lewis,Jeanne Drisko,Kerry L. Lee +9 more
TL;DR: Among stable patients with a history of MI, use of an intravenous chelation regimen with disodium EDTA, compared with placebo, modestly reduced the risk of adverse cardiovascular outcomes, many of which were revascularization procedures.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Effect of an EDTA-based Chelation Regimen on Patients With Diabetes Mellitus and Prior Myocardial Infarction in the Trial to Assess Chelation Therapy (TACT)
Esteban Escolar,Gervasio A. Lamas,Daniel B. Mark,Robin Boineau,Christine Goertz,Yves Rosenberg,Richard L. Nahin,Pamela Ouyang,Theodore Rozema,Allan Magaziner,Richard Nahas,Eldrin F. Lewis,Lauren Lindblad,Kerry L. Lee +13 more
TL;DR: Findings from the TACT trial do not constitute sufficient evidence to indicate the routine use of chelation therapy for all post–myocardial infarction patients with diabetes mellitus, but support efforts to replicate these findings and define the mechanisms of benefit.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of calorie restriction on the free-living physical activity levels of nonobese humans: results of three randomized trials
Corby K. Martin,Sai Krupa Das,Lauren Lindblad,Susan B. Racette,Megan A. McCrory,Edward P. Weiss,Edward P. Weiss,James P. DeLany,William E. Kraus +8 more
TL;DR: CR-associated changes in AEE were variable but, generally, reduced the energy deficit, which would reduce the expected rate of weight loss.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oral High-Dose Multivitamins and Minerals After Myocardial Infarction: A Randomized Trial
Gervasio A. Lamas,Robin Boineau,Christine Goertz,Daniel B. Mark,Yves Rosenberg,Mario Stylianou,Theodore Rozema,Richard L. Nahin,Lauren Lindblad,Eldrin F. Lewis,Jeanne Drisko,Kerry L. Lee +11 more
TL;DR: Oral multivitamins and minerals are often used in conjunction with ethylenediamine tetra acetic acid infusions to treat atherosclerotic disease, however, has not been established.
