Journal ArticleDOI
Solid acid as catalyst for biodiesel production via simultaneous esterification and transesterification of macaw palm oil
TL;DR: In this paper, a sulfated niobium oxide (NiO) catalyst was used as a heterogeneous catalyst aimed at biodiesel production via macaw palm oil through high free fatty acid content transesterification with ethanol.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biodiesel production from Mucor circinelloides using ethanol and heteropolyacid in one and two-step transesterification
Ana K.F. Carvalho,Leyvison Rafael V. da Conceição,João Vitor Silva,Victor Haber Perez,Heizir F. de Castro +4 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a two-step process was used to convert the microbial lipids into ethyl esters (FAEE) with high yields, though the former simplifies the production process due to the elimination of an oil extraction step that incurs oil loss.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chamotte clay as potential low cost adsorbent to be used in the palm kernel biodiesel purification
TL;DR: In this article, a face centered composite design was used to analyze the combined effect of chamotte concentration and temperature on glycerol removal, which indicated that the rate-limiting step may be chemisorption.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of biodiesel from macaw palm oil using mesoporous solid catalyst comprising 12-molybdophosphoric acid and niobia
Leyvison Rafael V. da Conceição,Livia Melo Carneiro,Domingos S. Giordani,Heizir F. de Castro +3 more
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of reaction temperature, ethanol-to-oil molar ratio and catalyst concentration on biodiesel production by H3PMo12O40 (HPMo) supported on niobia from macaw palm oil (Acrocomia aculeata) with high free fatty acid content has been studied through the response surface methodology.
Journal ArticleDOI
Keggin-structure heteropolyacid supported on alumina to be used in trans/esterification of high-acid feedstocks
Leyvison Rafael V. da Conceição,Leyvison Rafael V. da Conceição,Cristiano E. R. Reis,Rosemar de Lima,Daniela Vieira Cortez,Heizir F. de Castro +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, a face centered composite design was employed to conduct the experimental design and results analysis, taking macaw palm oil as study model, and the H3PMo/Al2O3 catalyst presented good regeneration and can be reused for up to four reaction cycles and requires lower ethanol-to-oil ratio, temperature and catalyst concentration in comparison with other data from the literature.
