Journal ArticleDOI

The genome of black cottonwood, Populus trichocarpa (Torr. & Gray)

Gerald A. Tuskan, +115 more
- 15 Sep 2006 -
TL;DR: The draft genome of the black cottonwood tree, Populus trichocarpa, has been reported in this paper, with more than 45,000 putative protein-coding genes identified.
Journal ArticleDOI

The genome of the domesticated apple ( Malus × domestica Borkh.)

Riccardo Velasco, +90 more
- 01 Oct 2010 -
TL;DR: It is shown that a relatively recent (>50 million years ago) genome-wide duplication has resulted in the transition from nine ancestral chromosomes to 17 chromosomes in the Pyreae, which partly support the monophyly of the ancestral paleohexaploidy of eudicots.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Medicago genome provides insight into the evolution of rhizobial symbioses

Nevin D. Young, +138 more
- 22 Dec 2011 -
TL;DR: The draft sequence of the M. truncatula genome sequence is described, a close relative of alfalfa (Medicago sativa), a widely cultivated crop with limited genomics tools and complex autotetraploid genetics, which provides significant opportunities to expand al falfa’s genomic toolbox.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Ectocarpus genome and the independent evolution of multicellularity in brown algae

J. Mark Cock, +76 more
- 03 Jun 2010 -
TL;DR: The Ectocarpus genome sequence represents an important step towards developing this organism as a model species, providing the possibility to combine genomic and genetic approaches to explore these and other aspects of brown algal biology further.
