Comprehensive investigation of steel corrosion inhibition at macro/micro level by ecofriendly green corrosion inhibitor in 15% HCl medium.

Amino acid based imidazolium zwitterions as novel and green corrosion inhibitors for mild steel: Experimental, DFT and MD studies

The corrosion inhibition performance of three triazine derivatives namely 4-((2-(5,6-diphenyl-1,2,4-triazin-3-yl)hydrazineylidene)methyl)-N,N-dimethylaniline (HT-1), 3-(2-(4 methoxybenzylidene) hydrazineyl)-5,6-diphenyl-1,2,4-triazine (HT-2) and 2-(2-(5,6-diphenyl-1,2,4-triazin-3-yl)hydrazineylidene)methyl)phenol (HT-3)on mild steel corrosion in1MHCl has been studied using gravimetric method, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Density functional theory (DFT) and molecular dynamics simulation. The corrosion inhibition efficiencies at optimum concentration (80 mg L-1) are 98.6% (HT-1), 97.1%(HT-2) and 94.3% (HT-3) respectively at 308 K. The corrosion inhibition efficiency increases with increase in concentration and decreases with increase in temperature. The adsorption of HTs on the surface of mild steel obeyed Langmuir isotherm. Potentiodynamic polarization study confirmed that inhibitors are mixed type with cathodic predominance. SEM analysis confirmed that metal surface is smooth in presence of inhibitors. Quantum chemical calculation and Molecular dynamics simulation further support the experimental findings.

The invention discloses a Schiff base surface active agent named 2-octanone condensation-compound ethylenediamine and application thereof. The structural formula of the 2-octanone condensation-compound ethylenediamine is as follows. The 2-octanone condensation-compound ethylenediamine is applied to alkaline Zn-Ni batteries as mercury substituting corrosion inhibition additives and used for preventing corrosion, dendritic growth, deformation, migration and the like of zinc electrodes. The 2-octanone condensation-compound ethylenediamine can effectively prevent alkaline electrolytes from corroding the zinc electrodes. Moreover, the cyclic voltammetry and zinc migration experiments prove that the 2-octanone condensation-compound ethylenediamine plays good roles in inhibiting the dendritic growth, the deformation and the migration of the pasted zinc electrodes.

The invention discloses a Schiff base surface active agent, namely, 2-octanone-p-phenylenediamine, and an application thereof. The structural formula of 2-octanone-p-phenylenediamine is as follows. 2-octanone-p-phenylenediamine is applied to alkaline nickel zinc batteries, used as a corrosion inhibition additive substituted for mercury and used for preventing phenomena of corrosion, dendritic growth, deformation, migration and the like of a zinc electrode. 2-octanone-p-phenylenediamine can effectively prevent an alkaline electrolyte from corroding the zinc electrode; and the cyclic voltammetry and a zinc migration experiment show that 2-octanone-p-phenylenediamine has better inhibiting effects on dendritic growth, deformation and migration of the pasted type zinc electrode.

2-octanone-p-phenylenediamine and application thereof

A Schiff base surfactant 2-octanone ethylenediamine (OED) was in this study designed to improve the performance of alkaline zinc-nickel batteries that were synthesized and characterized by IR and XRD. Electrochemical experimental results showed that addition of OED surfactant in both zinc electrode and electrolyte effectively inhibited self-corrosion of zinc electrode and improved performance of zinc-nickel battery charge and discharge. The battery capacity can keep almost 70 % of the theoretical capacity after 30 times cycles. The batteries also showed better performance, lower resistance, and longer cycle life with addition of surfactant, which can be attributed to fact that the zinc electrode surface had good adsorption capacity and coordination with zinc ions in the presence of surfactant.
