Journal ArticleDOI
Renin-mediated arterial hypertension in a case of congenital renal arteriovenous fistula
TL;DR: It is reported that the first case of congenital renal arteriovenous fistula in which renin-mediated arterial hypertension was the only clinical manifestation is reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
24-h pulse pressure cutoff point definition by office pulse pressure in a population of Spanish older hypertensive patients.
Ernest Vinyoles,Alejandro de la Sierra,Albert Roso-Llorach,José R. Banegas,Juan J. de la Cruz,Manuel Gorostidi,Julian Segura,J.A. Divisón,Gema Ruiz-Hurtado,Luis M. Ruilope +9 more
TL;DR: In a large clinical sample of older hypertensive patients, the cutoff point of 24-h PP that best predicts office PP at least 60 mmHg is 55 mmHg, which is slightly higher than the European Guidelines on Hypertension target.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cerebrovascular protection and antihypertensive therapy.
TL;DR: The association between blood pressure and stroke is reviewed and data from randomized controlled trials involving diverse therapies, especially those regarding the renin-angiotensin system are analysed, to determine specific effects of drug classes on cardiovascular risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
El bloqueo del sistema renina-angiotensina reduce la mortalidad y morbilidad cardiovascular atribuible a la hipertensión arterial en prevención primaria y secundaria. ¿El final del camino?

Journal ArticleDOI
Efficacy of Sevikar® compared to the combination of perindopril plus amlodipine on central arterial blood pressure in patients with moderate-to-severe hypertension: Rationale and design of the SEVITENSION study.
Luis M. Ruilope,Angie Schaefer +1 more
TL;DR: The SEVITENSION study will demonstrate non-inferiority of fixed-dose olmesartan/amlodipine combination therapy compared with the combination of perindopril plus amlodipines on the mean change from baseline in central aortic systolic blood pressure.
