One of the most challenging problems in personnel selection is the multi-attribute nature of the candidates. This problem is magnified during the procedure of selection of sophisticated personnel, such as internal auditors. By definition, an internal auditor must combine a selection of analytical and non-analytical skills, corresponding to specific cognitive and behavioral attributes. In this paper, a framework for internal auditors’ selection using TOPSIS technique is proposed, integrating behavioral and cognitive skills. AHP technique has been used to determine the weights of each criterion. By prioritizing the latter skills, the proposed framework can identify employable and potentially employable candidates. Besides considering the desirable skills in the process of personnel selection, the expected performance is also taken into account. To examine what would be the ideal importance of cognitive and behavioral skills that maximizes candidates’ performance, a non-linear programming method is applied. A real-life application is demonstrated to a sample of internal auditors from the Greek branch of a multi-national company.

Internal auditor selection using a TOPSIS/non-linear programming model

This paper proposes a novel model for a PV cell with parameters variance dependency on temperature and irradiance included. The model relies on commercial available data, calculates the cell parameters for standard conditions and then extrapolates them for the whole operating range. An up-to-date review of the PV modeling is also included with series and parallel parasitic resistance values and dependencies discussed. The parameters variance is analyzed and included in the proposed PV model, where the self-heating phenomenon is also considered. Each parameter variance is compared to the results from different authors. The model includes only standard components and can be run on any SPICE-based simulator. Unlike other approaches that consider the internal temperature as a parameter, our proposal relies on air temperature as an input and computes the actual internal temperature accordingly. Finally, the model is validated via experiments and comparisons to similar approaches are provided.

A Novel High Accuracy PV Cell Model Including Self Heating and Parameter Variation

Most existing fuzzy AHP (FAHP) methods use triangular fuzzy numbers to approximate the fuzzy priorities of criteria, which is inaccurate. To obtain accurate fuzzy priorities, time-consuming alpha-cut operations are usually required. In order to improve the accuracy and efficiency of estimating the fuzzy priorities of criteria, the piecewise linear fuzzy geometric mean (PLFGM) approach is proposed in this study. The PLFGM method estimates the α cuts of fuzzy priorities and then connects these α cuts with straight lines. As a result, the estimated fuzzy priorities will have piecewise linear membership functions that resemble the real shapes. The PLFGM approach has been applied to the identification of critical features for a smart backpack design. According to the experimental results, the PLFGM approach improved the accuracy and efficiency of estimating the fuzzy priorities of these critical features by 33% and 80%, respectively.

Choosing the right professional that has to meet indeterminate requirements is a critical aspect in humanitarian development and implementation projects This paper proposes a hybrid evaluation methodology for some non-governmental organizations enabling them to select the most competent expert who can properly and adequately develop and implement humanitarian projects This methodology accommodates various stakeholders’ perspectives in satisfying the unique requirements of humanitarian projects that are capable of handling a range of uncertain issues from both stakeholders and project requirements The criteria weights are calculated using a two-step multi-criteria decision-making method: (1) fuzzy analytical hierarchy process for the evaluation of the decision maker weights coupled with (2) technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution to rank the alternatives which provide the ability to take into account both quantitative and qualitative evaluations Sensitivity analysis have been developed and discussed by means of a real case of expert selection problem for a non-profit organisation The results show that the approach allows a decrease in the uncertainty associated with decision-making, which proves that the approach provides robust solutions in terms of sensitivity analysis

A Proposed Model of Photovoltaic Module in Matlab/SimulinkTM for Distance Education

Personnel selection is a strategic decision in knowledge-intense enterprises. Choosing the right qualified labor is crucial for IT companies. While evaluating the possible candidates for required positions, many aspects should be considered, such as technical skills, individual skills, etc. Multi-criteria decision making methods give supportive solutions for problems involving multi-dimensional human judgment. Human decisions mostly exhibit gradual judgment, vagueness and imprecision. Fuzzy set theory is a fundamental tool to develop models with uncertainty and relativity. This study aims to build a fuzzy analytical hierarchy process method for personnel selection in IT companies. A case study in a spin-off IT company in Sakarya University, Technology Development Zone was conducted to acquire empirical evidence. Furthermore the proposed study provides a decision support system for human resource departments to relax personnel selection problem.
