Journal ArticleDOI

ASIC1a regulates insular long-term depression and is required for the extinction of conditioned taste aversion.

TL;DR: The data demonstrate the involvement of an ASIC1a-mediated insular synaptic depression mechanism in extinction learning, which raises the possibility of targeting ASIC 1a to manage adaptive behaviours.
Journal ArticleDOI

Acid-sensing ion channel 1a contributes to hippocampal LTP inducibility through multiple mechanisms.

TL;DR: It is found that genetic deletion or pharmacological blockade of ASIC1a greatly reduced, but did not fully abolish, the probability of long-term potentiation (LTP) induction by either single or repeated high frequency stimulation or theta burst stimulation in the CA1 region.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optimization of hole-boring radiation pressure acceleration of ion beams for fusion ignition

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a review on some theoretical and numerical studies of the hole-boring radiation pressure acceleration, in which the longitudinal density profile of a composite target as well as the laser transverse intensity profile are tailored according to the matching condition.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dense blocks of energetic ions driven by multi-petawatt lasers.

TL;DR: A scheme to address the challenge to simultaneously enhance the yield and quality of laser-driven ion beams for practical applications via the use of emerging multi-petawatt lasers and a density-modulated target is proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dense blocks of energetic ions driven by multi-petawatt lasers

TL;DR: In this paper, a density-modulated target is proposed to accelerate a dense block of ions in a solid-density plasma to about 25% of the speed of light by a laser pulse at an intensity around 1022 W/cm2.
