TL;DR: This paper presents the design and implementation of a low cost but yet flexible and secure cell phone based home automation system that is designed to be low cost and scalable allowing variety of devices to be controlled with minimum changes to its core.
Abstract: Technology is a never ending process. To be able to design a product using the current technology that will be beneficial to the lives of others is a huge contribution to the community. This paper presents the design and implementation of a low cost but yet flexible and secure cell phone based home automation system. The design is based on a stand alone Arduino BT board and the home appliances are connected to the input/ output ports of this board via relays. The communication between the cell phone and the Arduino BT board is wireless. This system is designed to be low cost and scalable allowing variety of devices to be controlled with minimum changes to its core. Password protection is being used to only allow authorised users from accessing the appliances at home.

TL;DR: The proposed system does not require a dedicated server PC with respect to similar systems and offers a novel communicat ion protocol to monitor and control the home environment with more than just the switching functionality.
Abstract: Th is paper presents a low cost and flexib le home control and monitoring system using an embedded micro-web server, with IP connectivity for accessing and controlling devices and appliances remotely using Android based Smart phone app. The proposed system does not require a dedicated server PC with respect to similar systems and offers a novel communicat ion protocol to monitor and control the home environment with more than just the switching functionality. To demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of this system, devices such as light switches, power p lug, temperature sensor and current sensor have been integrated with the proposed home control system.

TL;DR: The smart home app is tested and it is able to successfully perform the smart home operations such as switching functionalities, automatic environmental control and intrusion detection, in the later case where an email is generated and the siren goes on.
Abstract: This paper presents a flexible standalone, low-cost smart home system, which is based on the Android app communicating with the micro-web server providing more than the switching functionalities. The Arduino Ethernet is used to eliminate the use of a personal computer (PC) keeping the cost of the overall system to a minimum while voice activation is incorporated for switching functionalities. Devices such as light switches, power plugs, temperature sensors, humidity sensors, current sensors, intrusion detection sensors, smoke/gas sensors and sirens have been integrated in the system to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed smart home system. The smart home app is tested and it is able to successfully perform the smart home operations such as switching functionalities, automatic environmental control and intrusion detection, in the later case where an email is generated and the siren goes on.

TL;DR: Smart energy efficient home automation system is proposed that can access and control the home equipments from every corner of the world.
Abstract: Advancement in IoT based application has become the state-of-the art technology among the researcher due to the availability of Internet everywhere. To make the application more user friendly, web based and android based technologies have gained their importance in this cutting edge technology. In this paper, smart energy efficient home automation system is proposed that can access and control the home equipments from every corner of the world. For this system, Internet connectivity module is attached to the main supply unit of the home system which can be accessed through the Internet. For wireless connectivity, the static IP address is used. Home automation is based on multimodal application that can be operated using voice recognition command of the user using the Google Assistant or through a web based application. Thus, main objective of this work is to make our home automation system more secure and intelligent.

TL;DR: The suggested home automation system has more features than conventional home automation systems such as an ultrasonic sensor is used for water level detection and soil moisture sensor is use for automatic plant irrigation system.
Abstract: In this paper a low cost and user friendly remote controlled home automation system is presented using Arduino board, Bluetooth module, smartphone, ultrasonic sensor and moisture sensor. A smartphone application is used in the suggested system which allows the users to control up to 18 devices including home appliances and sensors using Bluetooth technology. Nowadays, most of conventional home automation systems are designed for special purposes while proposed system is a general purpose home automation system. Which can easily be implement in existing home. The suggested system has more features than conventional home automation systems such as an ultrasonic sensor is used for water level detection and soil moisture sensor is use for automatic plant irrigation system. This paper also describes the hardware and software architecture of system, future work and scope. The proposed prototype of home automation system is implemented and tested on hardware and it gave the exact and expected results.

TL;DR: The working principle of different type of wireless communication techniques such as ZigBee, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, EnOcean and GSM are studied and their features are compared with each other so the users can choose their own choice of technology to build home automation system.
Abstract: Home automation system achieved great popularity in the last decades and it increases the comfort and quality of life. In this paper an overview of current and emerging home automation systems is discussed. Nowadays most home automation systems consist of a smartphone and microcontroller. A smart phone application is used to control and monitor the home appliances using different type of communication techniques. In this paper the working principle of different type of wireless communication techniques such as ZigBee, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, EnOcean and GSM are studied and their features are compared with each other so the users can choose their own choice of technology to build home automation system. Moreover in this research work the survey of different home automation systems is discussed and their advantages and drawbacks are also highlighted.
