Practical guide to exocrine pancreatic insufficiency – Breaking the myths

TL;DR: This opinion piece aims to address the existing myths, remove the current confusion, and function as a practical guide to the diagnosis and treatment of EPI.
Journal ArticleDOI

Machine learning in GI endoscopy: practical guidance in how to interpret a novel field.

TL;DR: A review of common trends and their potential pitfalls and proposes comprehensive quality requirements in six overarching themes: terminology, data, algorithm description, experimental setup, interpretation of results and machine learning in clinical practice.
Journal ArticleDOI

Extra-pancreatic complications, especially hemodialysis predict mortality and length of stay, in ICU patients admitted with acute pancreatitis.

TL;DR: Extra-pancreatic complications occur frequently in ICU patients with AP and impact LOS and mortality, and patients with non-infectious extra-p Pancreatic Complications have a higher mortality rate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Deep principal dimension encoding for the classification of early neoplasia in Barrett's Esophagus with volumetric laser endomicroscopy.

TL;DR: A fully-automatic multi-step Computer-Aided Detection (CAD) algorithm that optimally leverages the effectiveness of deep learning strategies by encoding the principal dimension in VLE data is proposed and it is shown that combining the encoded dimensions with conventional machine learning techniques further improves results while maintaining interpretability.
