Journal ArticleDOI

Unique amino acid composition of proteins in halophilic bacteria.

TL;DR: The amino acid compositions of proteins from halophilic archaea were compared with those from non-halophilic mesophiles and thermophiles, in terms of the protein surface and interior, on a genome-wide scale, and only aspartic acid deviated largely from the expected amount estimated from the dinucleotide composition of the genomic DNA sequence of the halophile.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microbial glutaminase: biochemistry, molecular approaches and applications in the food industry

TL;DR: The gene cloning, primary structure, and 3D-structure of glutaminase are illustrated and the mechanisms of action of salt-tolerant glutaminases are briefly discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Purification and Characterization of Three Thermostable Endochitinases of a Noble Bacillus Strain, MH-1, Isolated from Chitin-Containing Compost

TL;DR: Other properties of the strain, such as the formation of endospores, the presence of meso-diaminopimelic acid in the cell wall, the percent G+C of DNA, and the partial 16S ribosomal DNA sequence indicated that strain MH-1 should belong to the genus Bacillus.
Journal ArticleDOI

Isolation and characterization of salt-tolerant glutaminases from marine Micrococcus luteus K-3

TL;DR: The conserved sequences LA**V and V**GGT*A were observed in the N-terminal amino acid sequences of glutaminase I, similar to that for other glutaminases, which catalyzed the hydrolysis of l-glutamine, but not its hydroxylaminolysis.
