Journal ArticleDOI

Arsenic adsorption by Fe(III)-loaded open-celled cellulose sponge. Thermodynamic and selectivity aspects.

TL;DR: The interactions of arsenic species with the Fe(III)-loaded adsorbent are accurately determined to clarify the feasibility of an effective remediation of contaminated waters and a significant enhancement on As(V) adsorption selectivity by loading Fe( III) in the sponge is observed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rapid decolourization and mineralization of the azo dye C.I. Acid Red 14 by heterogeneous Fenton reaction.

TL;DR: The catalyst Fe(II)-Y Zeolite can be easily filtered from the solution, does not leach any iron into the solution (avoiding any secondary contamination due to the metal) and its effectivity can be reproduced after consecutive experiments.
Journal ArticleDOI

Polyphenols content and antioxidant capacity of thirteen faba bean (Vicia faba L.) genotypes cultivated in Tunisia

TL;DR: The results of this study indicate that faba beans are a good source of natural antioxidants independently to their genotype, and could be suitable for applications on the food industry in relation to production and preservation of faba bean food products.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assessment of heavy metals remobilization by fractionation: comparison of leaching tests applied to roadside sediments.

TL;DR: The sequential extraction scheme (SES), established by the Standard Measurement and Testing (SM&T), was implemented, and the results were compared with those obtained by single leaching tests, and an anthropogenic enhancement of certain metals was observed after considering both the CER and ECG values.
Journal ArticleDOI

Determination of mercury in polluted soils surrounding a chlor-alkali plant: Direct speciation by X-ray absorption spectroscopy techniques and preliminary geochemical characterisation of the area

TL;DR: In this paper, synchrotron-based micro X-ray fluorescence (μ-XRF) was applied to identify qualitative trends on elemental associations in sample particles through a systematic mapping of its surface.
