Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of Sacubitril/Valsartan Compared With Ramipril on Cardiac Structure and Function After Acute Myocardial Infarction: The PARADISE-MI Echocardiographic Substudy
Amil M. Shah,Brian Claggett,Narayana Prasad,Guichu Li,Mayra Volquez,Karola S. Jering,Maja Cikes,Attila Kovács,Wilfried Mullens,Jose C. Nicolau,Lars Køber,P. Van Der Meer,Pardeep S. Jhund,Ghionul Ibram,Martin Lefkowitz,Yinong Zhou,Scott D. Solomon,Marc A. Pfeffer +17 more
TL;DR: Treatment with sacubitril/valsartan compared with ramipril after AMI did not result in changes in LVEF or LAV at 8 months and measures of LV size, systolic function, and diastolic properties were predictive of cardiovascular death and incident heart failure in this contemporary, well-treated cohort.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative effects of propranolol and nadolol on renal blood flow in normal rats and rats with congestive heart failure.
Barry M. Brenner,Barry M. Brenner,Kenneth L. Duchin,Kenneth L. Duchin,I Ichikawa,I Ichikawa,Janice M. Pfeffer,Janice M. Pfeffer,Marc A. Pfeffer,Marc A. Pfeffer +9 more
TL;DR: Despite similar decrements in MAP and HR, propranolol decreased renal perfusion, whereas nadolol maintained it in animals with noninfarcted myocardium, and these parameters were also evaluated in rats with congestive heart failure induced by myocardial infarction.
Journal ArticleDOI
Physical working capacity after acute myocardial infarction in patients with low ejection fraction and effect of captopril.
L. Howard Hartley,Greg C. Flaker,Lofty L. Basta,Frank Menapace,Steven A. Goldman,Barry R. Davis,Peggy Hamm,Gervasio A. Lamas,Lemuel A. Moyé,Chuan Chuan Wun,Marc A. Pfeffer +10 more
TL;DR: This study concurs with 2 of 3 previous post-AMI studies and supports the conclusion that working capacity is not affected by angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibition at 4 or 12 months after AMI in patients without congestive heart failure.
Journal Article
Can there be any surrogate for safety
Marc A. Pfeffer,Hicham Skali +1 more
TL;DR: The need for more definitive clinical outcomes trials to better guide clinical practice is emphasized, as the clinical effects produced by a therapy were not adequately predicted by changes in an allegedly reliable and important surrogate.
