Variants in MTNR1B influence fasting glucose levels

Inga Prokopenko, +124 more
- 01 Jan 2009 -
TL;DR: Variants in the gene encoding melatonin receptor 1B (MTNR1B) were consistently associated with fasting glucose across all ten genome-wide association scans, and previous associations of fasting glucose with variants at the G6PC2 and GCK loci are confirmed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Heritability of Cardiovascular and Personality Traits in 6,148 Sardinians

TL;DR: Significant evidence for heritability of many medically important traits, including cardiovascular function and personality is found, and evidence for heterogeneity by age and sex suggests that models allowing for these differences will be important in mapping quantitative traits.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genome-wide association study identifies six new loci influencing pulse pressure and mean arterial pressure

Louise V. Wain, +229 more
- 01 Oct 2011 -
TL;DR: Findings suggest new genetic pathways underlying blood pressure variation, some of which may differentially influence SBP and DBP, as well as two new MAP loci associated with both of these traits.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genetic association study of QT interval highlights role for calcium signaling pathways in myocardial repolarization

Dan E. Arking, +260 more
- 01 Aug 2014 -
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors identified 35 common variant loci associated with QT interval that collectively explain ∼8-10% of QT-interval variation and highlight the importance of calcium regulation in myocardial repolarization.
