Impact of Ambient Temperatures on Exhaust Thermal Characteristics during Cold Start for Real World SI Car Urban Driving Tests

TL;DR: In this paper, a Euro 1 emission compliance SI car was tested using a real world urban driving cycle to represent typical city driving patterns and simulate ECE15 urban driving cycles and the results indicate that in some urban driving conditions such as short journeys in cities especially under cold weather conditions, the function of catalysts for emission reductions is very limited.
Journal ArticleDOI

Do new sources of traffic data make the application of Chaos Theory to traffic management a realistic possibility

TL;DR: This paper argues that the emergence of new sources of high-resolution data and large data storage capabilities opens up the real possibility for a new generation of UTC systems that are better able to detect the dynamic states of traffic and therefore more effectively prevent the onset of traffic congestion in urban areas worldwide.
Journal ArticleDOI

Quantifying a cellular automata simulation of electric vehicles

TL;DR: Results from SwitchEV, a real world Electric Vehicle trial which has collected more than two years of detailed electric vehicle data, are used to quantify the results of the NS automata, demonstrating similar power consumption behavior to that observed in the experimental results.
