Tracking the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation through the last 8,000 years

TL;DR: It is shown that distinct, ∼55- to 70-year oscillations characterized the North Atlantic ocean-atmosphere variability over the past 8,000 years, and that the coupling from the AMO to regional climate conditions was modulated by orbitally induced shifts in large-scale ocean- atmosphere circulation.
Journal ArticleDOI

A global multiproxy database for temperature reconstructions of the Common Era

Julien Emile-Geay, +108 more
- 11 Jul 2017 -
TL;DR: A community-sourced database of temperature-sensitive proxy records from the PAGES2k initiative, suited to investigations of global and regional temperature variability over the Common Era, and is shared in the Linked Paleo Data (LiPD) format, including serializations in Matlab, R and Python.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evidence for solar forcing of sea-surface temperature on the North Icelandic Shelf during the late Holocene

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used tephrochronology to date the sedimentary record from the North Icelandic Shelf and reconstructed solar irradiance, together with modeling results, to support the hypothesis that solar forcing is an important constituent of natural climate variability in the northern North Atlantic region.
