This handbook looks to provide academics and students with a comprehensive and holistic understanding of the phenomenon of innovation. Innovation spans a number of fields within the social sciences and humanities: Management, Economics, Geography, Sociology, Politics, Psychology, and History. Consequently, the rapidly increasing body of literature on innovation is characterized by a multitude of perspectives based on, or cutting across, existing disciplines and specializations. Scholars of innovation can come from such diverse starting points that much of this literature can be missed, and so constructive dialogues missed. The editors of The Oxford Handbook of Innovation have carefully selected and designed twenty-one contributions from leading academic experts within their particular field, each focusing on a specific aspect of innovation. In this paper, inspired by the concept of b-metric space, we introduce the concept of extended b-metric space. We also establish some fixed point theorems for self-mappings defined on such spaces. Our results extend/generalize many pre-existing results in literature.

Cultural Tourism: global and local perspectives

Fractals and multivalued fractals play an important role in biology, quantum mechanics, computer graphics, dynamical systems, astronomy and astrophysics, geophysics, etc. Especially, there are important consequences of the iterated function (or multifunction) systems theory in several topics of applied sciences. It is known that examples of fractals and multivalued fractals are coming from fixed point theory for single-valued and multivalued operators, via the so-called fractal and multi-fractal operators. On the other hand, the most common setting for the study of fractals and multi-fractals is the case of operators on complete or compact metric spaces. The purpose of this paper is to extend the study of fractal operator theory for multivalued operators on complete b-metric spaces.

Innovation – A Useful Tool in the Rural Tourism in Romania

Measuring patient satisfaction of healthcare service quality represents a significant element of a healthcare’s system (HS) overall evaluation. It is the starting point for creating policies in national healthcare. The purpose of this paper was to evaluate Romanian patients’ perception and satisfaction of the quality of the national HS as a whole and of its components. Exploratory and descriptive research was used. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews with Romanian patients, based on a questionnaire. Out of the 2305 respondents, 83% used the Romanian HS in the past 12 months and 58% of the respondents did not trust the system. The accommodation, food, and other facilities of Romanian hospitals were perceived as being at a low level. One third of the respondents were unsatisfied and very unsatisfied with respect to the overall impression of the Romanian HS. In addition, our research found a statistically significant relationship between confidence in the HS, age, and gender, and also between the overall impression on the HS, age and income.

Measuring Patients’ Perception and Satisfaction with the Romanian Healthcare System

Holidays and leisure services are usually bought without experiencing them first, so buying them online is not so different from offline experience. For this reason, Internet has become an essential marketing tool for the tourism industry. The purpose of the study is to find why Romanians use Internet, if they practice tourism recently and what type of tourism, reasons for using the online for different types of tourism products, their preference for the online or offline tourism based on different criteria, the share of online consumed tourism. The results of the paper have implications for target marketing strategies designed for business environment, travel destination areas, services, and facilities and also for tourism organizations.

This paper deals with the impact of Romania’s accession to the UE on the companies in the textile sector. At the moment of the EU accession and in the following period, the Romanian economic environment will be subject to a number of modifications that will most definitely affect the textile industry as well as the companies involved in this field.
