Real-time quantification of microRNAs by stem–loop RT–PCR

TL;DR: A novel microRNA quantification method has been developed using stem–loop RT followed by TaqMan PCR analysis, which enables fast, accurate and sensitive miRNA expression profiling and can identify and monitor potential biomarkers specific to tissues or diseases.
Journal Article

Glutathione peroxidase codon 198 polymorphism variant increases lung cancer risk.

TL;DR: A case-control study nested within the alpha-Tocopherol, beta-Carotene Cancer Prevention Study cohort to evaluate the association between the proline to leucine polymorphism at codon 198 of h GPX1 and lung cancer risk found a significant association between hGPX1 genotype and lungcancer risk.
Journal Article

Polymorphisms of the DNA repair gene XRCC1 and lung cancer risk.

TL;DR: Polymorphisms of XRCC1 appear to influence risk of lung cancer and may modify risk attributable to environmental exposures and individuals with the variant Arg280His allele who were alcohol drinkers seemed to be at higher risk for lung cancer compared with those with the homozygous wild-type genotype.

Multiplex amplification of polynucleotides

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present methods, reagents and kits for carrying out a variety of assays suitable for analyzing polynucleotides or samples that include an amplification step performed in a multiplex fashion.
