TL;DR: In this article, the authors demonstrate that the ecological approach developed in these two activities is based on an "ethics of care" perspective which focuses on human vulnerability, and that social actors are adapting to a context which has the potential to provide income and new status.
Abstract: Using a sociological perspective, the article shows that masters of capoeira in Brazil and boxing coaches in France have adopted an ‘ecological’ approach to society, particularly when they are working with people with disabilities. The comparative research presented in this paper is based on ethnographic data. The authors demonstrate that the ecological approach developed in these two activities is based on an ‘ethics of care’ perspective which focuses on human vulnerability. At the same time, social actors are adapting to a context which has the potential to provide income and new status. This situation differs from what is traditionally observed in care studies. Boxing coaches and masters of capoeira are developing a ‘strategic-functionalist’ approach whereby they demonstrate the educational and welfare functions of their respective practices. By doing so, they seek to occupy a more important place in the social arena by meeting disability-related expectations and new challenges linked to inclusion.

TL;DR: In this paper, the social participation of people with disabilities in capoeira and boxing was investigated. But they did not find that disability did not prevent social participation, and the degree of socio-political participation was higher in boxing, because disabled boxers had to stand up for disability rights in order to be officially recognized within the federal boxing system.
Abstract: This research focuses on the social participation of people with disabilities practising capoeira in Brazil and boxing in France. From a multi-sited ethnographic research, we observed that disability did not prevent social participation. On the one hand, capoeira and boxing are based on cultural values through which vulnerability and alterity are seen positively. On the other hand, the degree of socio-political participation is higher in boxing, because disabled boxers have had to stand up for disability rights in order to be officially recognized within the federal boxing system. Conversely, in capoeira, disabled capoeiristas have to follow the path of the master to be accepted, which gives them position for potential increase in the social participation of disabled people.

TL;DR: The concept de jeu paradoxal has also been used to define the capoeira as mentioned in this paper, a motrice motrice a part of the Capoeira ensemble, which is a melange of danse, lutte, rituel, and other disciplines or activites.

TL;DR: In the 1966 paperback edition of a publication which first appeared in 1963 has by now been widely reviewed as a worthy contribution to the sociological study of deviant behavior as discussed by the authors, and the authors developed a sequential model of deviance relying on the concept of career, a concept originally developed in studies of occupations.
Abstract: This 1966 paperback edition of a publication which first appeared in 1963 has by now been widely reviewed as a worthy contribution to the sociological study of deviant behavior. Its current appearance as a paperback is a testimonial both to the quality of the work and to the prominence of deviant behavior in this generation. In general the author places deviance in perspective, identifies types of deviant behavior, considers the role of rule makers and enforcers, and some of the problems in studying deviance. In addition, he develops a sequential model of deviance relying on the concept of career, a concept originally developed in studies of occupations. In his study of a particular kind of deviance, the use of marihuana, the author posits and tests systematically an hypothesis about the genesis of marihuana use for pleasure. The hypothesis traces the sequence of changes in individual attitude
