Effects of chemotherapy and hormonal therapy for early breast cancer on recurrence and 15-year survival: an overview of the randomised trials

O. Abe, +412 more
- 14 May 2005 -
TL;DR: The 10-year and 15-year effects of various systemic adjuvant therapies on breast cancer recurrence and survival are reported and it is found that the cumulative reduction in mortality is more than twice as big at 15 years as at 5 years after diagnosis.
Journal ArticleDOI

ICRP PUBLICATION 118: ICRP Statement on Tissue Reactions and Early and Late Effects of Radiation in Normal Tissues and Organs – Threshold Doses for Tissue Reactions in a Radiation Protection Context

TL;DR: Estimates of ‘practical’ threshold doses for tissue injury defined at the level of 1% incidence are provided and it appears that the rate of dose delivery does not modify the low incidence for reactions manifesting very late after low total doses, particularly for cataracts and circulatory disease.
Journal ArticleDOI

The radiotherapeutic injury – a complex ‘wound’

TL;DR: The principles of organised normal tissue responses during and after radiation therapy, the effect of radiation therapy on these responses, as well as some of the mechanisms underlying the development of recognisable injury are reviewed.
